Two of my holiday "favorites"

i think these are 2 things people either love or hate.

fruit cake: i think i may have been the only kid who ate fruit cake with Nana. Alton Brown has a great recipe for what he calls "free-range" fruit cake. lots of very boozy dried fruit... actual fruit... none of that plastic alien stuff. very dense but not a "brick".

Free Range Fruitcake

egg nog: i like it but a little goes a long, long way. actually too sweet. saw/read/heard adding a shot of Fireball (cinnamon liquor)... sounds yummy.

what say you?

I like both, too... but I'm not allowing myself to have any eggnog this year. Had some fruitcake earlier today and a third favorite for me would be French vanilla chocolate covered cherries which I've also had recently.

Ditto. I’m not a huge fruitcake fan but really well made ones with a nice variety of candied fruit including cherries and pineapple … with a thick layer of marzipan and nice vanilla icing on top of that. I’m a tad on the spoiled side.

Egg nog... Yuck (don't like custard pie either... I think it's the combo of cream/nutmeg that puts me off)
