Two Possibly Deadly Mass Shootings In The U.S. Averted Within The Last 4 Days

The first was inside an Omaha Target. The gunman had entered the store and "fired at least six rounds". The police response was very quick and they killed him before anyone got hurt.

The second one was in Hollywood. The gunman didn't get a chance to start shooting but had made "criminal threats" and several weapons, including a sniper rifle, loaded and ready to fire were found in his apartment. They also found a bullet proof vest and "a large amount of ammunition."
"His
apartment overlooks a residential neighborhood and a dog park north of Sunset Boulevard. Authorities said some of the guns were pointed toward the windows." Clearly this man presents a threat to the public; I don't understand why bail was set at only $500,000, especially if Cali is like N.J. where only 10% needs to be posted before the arrested person is released.

I just don't know what the world is coming to !!

When the American people honestly have had enough of mass killings, they will vote for people who will do their bidding!

Good news and bad. Good that it was averted, bad that it happened at all...
The Sunset Strip guy has absolutely terrified me.
Yes, and as the only crime he seems to have been guilty of is making threats he will not spend much, if any, time in jail. So the threat is not likely passed.

We are pretty safe from the guy in Omaha now...

Of course the threat hasn't passed! Someday, someone who let him off will regret doing so but it will be too late for the victims and their families. Couldn't having all those weapons and ammo, obviously for nefarious reasons, be considered a crime?

Not if they were purchased legally & registered. At least one of them - the rifle on the bipod with the high-capacity magazines next to it - isn't legal to possess in California. And, if he's a prohibited person (which includes anyone with a felony conviction, or misdemeanor conviction that involved violence), he's not allowed to possess any firearm or ammunition - which illustrates the fallacy of gun laws. If he was planning a mass shooting, he wouldn't be concerned about violating gun possession laws.

You ain't seen nothin' yet. It's just a matter of time before somebody uses a robot to commit a murder or mass murder.

The immediate future doesn't look good. The distant future might be okay, but the way I see it, things are going to soon get worse... much worse. Bleh.

I know what it's coming to but I am glad police response was so quick people were not killed or injured. We need more of that and it obviously is possible.

Yep, may have happened already...

An autonomous robot may have already killed people
Autonomous weapon systems – commonly known as killer robots – may have killed human beings for the first time ever last year, according to a recent United Nations Security Council report on the Libyan civil war.

And people are thinking about legal issues:

When an AI finally kills someone, who will be responsible?

At the heart of this debate is whether an AI system could be held criminally liable for its actions.

Read the Omaha article since I am from there. Interview with a police officer on the cordon line stated OPD (Omaha Police Dept.) is trained to confront the shooter immediately and eliminate the threat. Even if there is only one responding officer.

The person/persons who programmed it to kill humans should be responsible IMHO.
