According to the "Daily Mail" today, the Lockdown will
begin to end on 11th May 2020, with Schools, Hirdressers
and clothes shops opening, but the over 70s will be made
to stay home for a year!

I still think that they, the Government, know more that they
are telling us, about this virus.

Mike.

According to those experts, coming out of isolation too soon will only fire up the virus again. I live in Northeastern PA. And I broke my dentures. I've been told by a number of dental groups, and labs, that they will not be accepting any appointments to after July 4, 2020. It's kind of strange that ALL of them are using that July date for accepting new appointments. I think this is going to drag on till then

It's a regional decision. ... dentures don't fall under an emergency to them, so every state and even different areas in some states have come up with different scenarios for reopening dental practices. It ties into the bed/hospital occupancy rate in the area.

As of now, my daughter's dental office will open in May, with new procedures in place.... but I guess everything is subject to change.

I think May 11th is too early. I hope they decide to extend it by that time. Don't get me wrong, I wish it was then but better to be safe than sorry and have start the lock down all over again.
of course it's far too early, I totally agree... they haven't even started testing anyone yet here .... nor enforcing lockdowns. The only thing they've done here is close all the pubs, coffee shops, school, and clothes shops, basically... supermarkets are still open and people can basically come and go as they please.. 800 people on average dying every day...

I watched Gavin Williamson make that announcement that I have posted on the television news.

I much prefer to watch live television news that read what some national newspapers print.

This concerns me greatly. I think it's too soon.
absolutely...and tbh I'm taking it all with a pinch of salt.. every day the media writes something different but it has printed that today... so it's a real concern anyway if true...

Under the first, 'red', phase of the 'traffic light' plan, businesses such as garden centres and hairdressers could reopen, subject to strict social distancing arrangements.

Around a fifth of children would also go back to school as part of a phased return, although officials are divided over whether to give priority based on year groups, the occupation of parents or by region.

The 'amber' phase – probably in June or July – would see restaurants open on condition that tables were far enough apart. Most children and office workers would also leave isolation.

IMO it is best to wait a little longer than start the whole process over again.
absoloutely agree. I feel sure that as soon as they let out a significant amount of people to return to jobs, and places where groups gather like coffee shops and schools... then we'll see a big second wave of this pandemic. I'm as desperate as anyone to get this thing gone, so we can get back to living life, ( although tbf there has been some advantages to the lockdown like pure clean air, and lack of traffic on the roads, and cheap fuel, and ) ...but there's been many disadvantages none least in the the horrendous thousands of deaths and the deep seated fear in many of us that we will succumb, or those of who have, and those of us who have had family not survive , and IMO there's only one way to try and prevent this , and that is definitely not to let anyone return to pre pandemic life without at the very least some kind of testing...

OK I will try again with the live broadcast, why would a national newspaper know more than the education secretary........

'No plans to open schools over summer'
Education Secretary Gavin Williamson has said there are no plans to open schools over the summer period.
Speaking at the daily briefing from Downing Street he said he can't tell parents, pupils and teachers when schools will-reopen.

Yesterday the media said the school may open in May...today the Same media sources are reporting that it will be June at the earliest... that would make more sense.. but I would really imagine that September the beginning of the autumn term might in fact be the best idea of all...

According to the latest news, we are ending May 1

that's the problem Aneeda isn't it, we've got that none of us know what the real truth of anything is, until it actually happens. Even today in the media it's saying that pubs here won't open until Christmas...we have no idea if that's true of course, but depressing if so, because it will mean that so many landlords and owners will never be able to afford to open again...
