Unique humour of Yorkshire

I am currently listening to Uncle Mort's North Country on Audibles. I love it, the Yorkshire dry sense of humour suits me very well because I am rather miserable by nature myself - you may have noticed! Many of my family come from those parts and I love their accents and take on life. Very practical tough people. Just like the wonderful humour of James Herriot.
I remember the Uncle Mort books were very good years ago, now the radio dramatisations are a delight.
It's all about the grim misery of the North. No place for your 'Soft Southerners'.
Does it appeal to you?

I love James Herriot. Once upon a time, I had a Yorkshire boyfriend. He had a very dry humour, and so did his father, with whom I had a nice phone conversation with.

By the way, I don't at all find you miserable :)
Kind of you, but I know I'm miserable , my husband tells me!

Listening to Uncle Mort's North Country it is full of the wry Northern sense of humour. Unrelenting grim misery - brilliant! Peter Tinniswood captured expertly it in minute detail. I have never laughed so much. Highly recommended to cheer you up, if you can appreciate it that is.
