United flight diverted after passengers became disruptive because someone was sneezing

A commercial flight from Colorado ski country to Newark, New Jersey, made an unscheduled stop in Denver after several passengers became disruptive because they were seated next to someone who they thought was sick, officials said.

Sunday’s diversion of the United Airlines flight to Newark International Airport illustrates growing concerns over the coronavirus outbreak that has infected more than 500 people in the U.S. and 100,000 people worldwide.

My sinuses act up in dry environments. Plane air is not exactly a tropical breeze.

What about allergies, common colds or irritation due to perfumes, colognes or cleaners. By the time this outbreak is done there will be some vigilante type action on a suspected not confirmed infected. I didn't know everyone who flied was a pre compromised senior.

Seems like everyone has somehow forgotten about seasonal allergies and colds (the temps have varied so much), and it is also still flu season.
If someone sneezes anywhere now, people scatter and get hysterical.

If you're bored & want to have a little fun in a crowded elevator:
Make that sound people make before they sneeze: "Ah....ah.....ah." Then when people start moving away from you, whisper quietly, "Choo."

My son and fam are flying back as I type from the Dominican Republic after a week of vacation using United....so far no temp checks going and coming back.....

I have allergies too and sometimes go into sneezing a lot. Going out the other night made me realize that people who don't seem to have anything seriously wrong with them sneeze and cough at times. A lot of people do, in fact. Some are smokers, then some have allergies and some have a common cold coming on. Also, in my area, being on the lake makes for many having sinus problems, as I do, too.

With this virus in the news and all over, I think we all have become overly sensitive to coughing and sneezing. I hope no one I was around has the virus for their sake, mine and others but we all just don't know.

I sneeze every single day, sometimes 10-12 times in a row. No allergies that I know of, just have always been a sneezer. One of my sons has always been a cougher (my dad was, too, and he lived to 96).

That’s what the pilots (Captains) are trained to do. In cases when the Purser (head F/A) alerts the Captain to a disruption in the cabin among several passengers, he is to divert to the nearest airport available that can accommodate the plane.
