Unpleasant surprise with yogurt this morning

I opened a new quart of vanilla yogurt this morning, but it tasted so tangy, it was like it was carbonated and it smelled yeasty- not normal. I will have to take it back. Fortunately, I bought another container at the same time and it was fine. Good thing I always keep my receipts.
