Unseasonably cold temps in Nashville

There’s not a lot of snow on the ground here, but MAN is it cold!! 🥶 we are not used to such frigid conditions here Walking the dogs definitely ain’t for the faint of heart!! I triple layered myself and took them out at 6.00am and it was -1 degrees with a wind chill/feels like of -15 according to the news!

Racer is double coated so he didn’t fare too badly but he’s also an old man, and he was definitely feeling the cold by the time we headed back in. I had a fleece winter coat on Remy (his first time in snow!) which he wasn’t thrilled about, but I think he needed it. He was much quicker than usual to do his business but as soon as he was done he just planted his butt and started shivering! I scooped him up and carried him back inside and ran warm water over his paws to melt the accumulated ice. We were all miserable by the time we were back inside. 😣

I’m going to have to repeat this routine a few more times today for the dogs’ potty breaks. Send prayers 🙏 and hot toddies! 🥃

I'm about 60 miles straight north of you, @Ronni, and have the same view out my window! And the same temp. I moved from Chicago to get away from the cold weather! o_O

Actually, the first winter I lived down here they had a freak snowfall of almost 2 feet and we were snowed in for a week. Welcome to Kentucky! :ROFLMAO:

Edited to add: I don't have the makings of a hot toddy for you, but I can offer some nice hot spiced tea if you're interested!

lol... man up Ronni..it's winter... :ROFLMAO: we had -6 the last week... with all the snow... and even now with the snow melted it's -minus 2 at night.... Just triple layer.. and Remy will survive in his winter coat.. and all warmed up and dried up in a big towel when he gets home from his walk.. bless his gorgeous self...

This was my grandfurkids last week.. they love their walks.. snow won't stop them... ..and these are old dogs who have spent all their lives until last year in Hot Southern Spain...

Meanwhile the ACTUAL air temp in Edmonton Alberta was minus 35 C yesterday, with the wind chill factor it was minus 45 C. Remember that minus 40 C and minus 40 F are the same thing. Be happy Folks. JimB.

Arkansas here, same weather. Horse has a big bucket of very warm mash, dogs have been out a couple of times. My toes and cheeks and fingers are numb. The half-feral cats ate supper last night, but I haven't seen them yet this morning.
we're taking care of feral too....paw built them a heated shelter with beds...going out to take their hot food at 700 am...-31with 40 m wind...they're okay...but only 2 in there..we'll see in a bit..i couldn't sleep worried.

Right there with you @Ronni, looked out the window, heard all the wind chimes singing and had another cup of coffee.
No pets, so no reason to leave the house.
It's been a while since Nashville has had this type of cold.
Stay warm everyone...
