My family always make sure my presents are unusual, as befits a person who defies the norms!:D

Most of my Christmas presents had a dinosaur theme, as did the presents I had for my birthday this week. I am so very, very old I must have been around when the dinosaurs in command of the planet.:D One of my dinosaur presents enables me to adopt one of the dinosaurs at the Natural History Museum in London. I have chosen the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

What unusual presents have other posters received?

a lady I worked with years ago -was leaving ' and we became good friends '
she brought in a lovely hand painted pic she had done and signed it for me -

when I moved it got wet but I still keep it ….

I've written about this before so I'll cut it very short, ..but many years ago on another forum I mentioned that I couldn't find or afford a certain very expensive arran style cardigan , and a poster who I didn't know offered to knit if for me if I paid for the wool etc..,. It was a mammoth task, it was a certain design, and had to be a particular shade of red (unlike the usual cream or white) and very expensive .. She offered to do the work, and then bill me for the cost but just for the materials not the labour .. in superfast time around 2 or 3 weeks she'd finished the cardigan and asked for my address to send the bill for the materials..

Instead what arrived in the post, was the cardigan, and a beautiful note that I cherish today saying, that she wasn't leaving her contact address because she didn't want to be paid...
When a relative had been seriously ill, she'd promised that if they could be saved she would choose 3 strangers to do a good deed for in thanks ... her relative was pulled back from death s' door, and this lady ''mary'' went on to fulfil her promise to god , and explained that I was the third person and she felt her promise was fulfilled ...

I never knew her before, and she disappeared from the forum almost immediately after.

I still have that Cardigan and the letter , and it must be 15 years now, and I'll never forget that gift...

When I worked at a rehab hospital I visited with a patient's family regarding a payment plan they had requested from a nurse. When I took the paperwork to the family I noticed angels everywhere in her room. I asked about them and said I collected angels also. The patient asked my favorite color and I told her blue. When she was discharged she came by my office with a beautiful angel painting done with different shades of blue for me. We were not supposed to accept gifts from patients but made an exception in this case. She said she was grateful to me for working out a payment plan she could afford. I was only doing my job but it meant something to her and her family. I still have that painting and it is still on my wall. I have to say that the House Keeping department was glad to see her go as she had her paints everywhere in her room and they had problems finding a place for her meal trays!
