Unwanted calls from Signify Health

Is anyone else getting calls from Signify Health? They claim they are working with my health insurance and want to make a home visit to check up on me and recommend services for the future. i politely refused. they stated it's a free service. They don't take no for an answer. "Sunday we have 9:30 and 11:30".

Why would an insurance company pay a 3rd party to do the same thing they pay my doctor to do? Who is paying them?

Here's a similar question on reddit.

I can’t remember if it was signify or not, but I got a similar call. I called my insurance and they said that the company was legit and that they do it to help cut down on doctor visits. Basically, it sounded to me like they wanted to come to my house and make some assessment that they could then use to justify not covering my doctor visits, or trying to force me into a long term care facility, which might be cheaper for them. I have a several chronic illnesses that were requiring a lot of doctor visits at the time, but I’m a fully functioning middle aged person. I think they do it to the elderly a lot and get away with it.

Not a scam. Many health insurers contract with a third party for a home visit.

Tell Signify you are NOT interested and to put you on their DO Not Call List.
Call your health insurance company and tell them you do NOT want Signify to do home visits. Tell them to relay that information to Signify.

A little scepticism is healthy but not to the point where you mistrust everything. If the purpose is prevention it makes sense. Maybe they save money by keeping us out of the hospital. I had a recent visit from another company. It seemed OK. I am going to have to do further research. I will let you know if I find out anything of importance.

Home visit?!😵‍💫
And not taking no for an answer. ?
yikes.

I wouldn't feel comfortable with that.

A "home visit"? NO! Sounds simply like they're trying to drum up business.

I'm not sure if the company is Signify Health, but yes I get those calls. Aetna contracts with them to do healthy home visits at least once a year. I let them send a nurse once, but ultimately thought it was a waste of time since I see my PCP at least three times a year, plus my specialists who are all excellent. Now I just ignore the calls and don't return them when they leave messages. The last time I spoke with a rep, I told her I was no longer interested in the home visits. Every now and then Aetna will send a letter encouraging me to take advantage of the service.

I just have to say this. One of the last times they called, I was on my tractor working outside. Here this guy is going with the spiel, fall risk assessments, overall health assessments all while sitting on my tractor. And he knew it since I told him I had to shut it down so I could hear him.

Since our health insurance companies have our medical records they should use those to decide who might benefit from a visit.

We have started getting monthly phone calls from the hospital, just to check in on us. It was voluntary and no cost to us. A nurse calls and asks how we're doing, any changes that they should be aware of, do we need any medication refills? With the recent problems my wife has had, it seemed like it might be good idea. A few people we knew we discovered in their homes after they missed a doctor's appointment. It is a legitimate concern with older people, often living alone in rural areas.

Kaiser Permanente has sent me a couple mailings, asking me to sign a release so they can access and share my VA medical information with a third party- Benelynk, which "partners with your health plan to make sure you receive all the benefits you deserve". Whatever that means. To me, it's an attempt to generate revenue using my personal medical data. Not gonna happen.

I would have thought that Kaiser would be lying low, after being slapped with a class action and being forced to pay $46 million in damages, for sharing patient records with 3rd parties. Up to $47.5M Kaiser Settlement Ends Class Action Lawsuit Over Alleged Disclosure of Patient Info

Phone calls are one thing. I can see why you like that!

Home visits, with the accompanying tests and checks, are quite different. I already get what they provide with my annual wellness visit. I do not need someone coming to my home, assessing me and my environment. I don't need a third party (in my case Matrix) having personal/medical information handed to them.

I can't say I like it or don't , but I certainly can understand not wanting someone to drop by. I don't much care about who knows about my medical history, especially if it's someone who should, but that's me.

My wife now is pretty much on a 2 month cycle of one doctor visit or another, so somebody is seeing her on a regular basis. It's her choice . I only agreed because I have to be here so she can remain at home. I don't know how long that will last, as physically I'm finding I have more and more limitations.

I wonder if in person visits would constitute a reliable witness, there fore a certain change in condition would allow them to drop coverage? I'm just speculating here, could be there is a financial motive because of our age, there is compensation. I don't know.

The important thing is, if you don't want it, you shouldn't have to do it.
