Useless mail delivery drivers

In the UK we have a weekly magazine called 'Radio Times' which lists the TV and radio programs for the coming week . The most convenient and cheapest way to get the magazine is by subscription which includes postage to your home. This used to work well with the mag arriving in good time, but recently it has been delivered late. After complaining, the mag was dispatched by a different courier and we were able to track its progress.

Day 1 and 2, the tracking showed the courier coming within a few miles of our house before returning to the depot. Day 3 the tracking showed that no matter where he was, it was always 10 stops from our house! Eventually, a courier arrived with a large parcel - for totally the wrong address. Did he have our magazine? He ploughed his way through the contents of his van, walking over parcels and tossing them aside and eventually found our magazine before trying to find the correct address for the large parcel..

I totally despair with some of these companies. It's so nice when we get mail from our regular postie. He knows the people in the village and doesn't mess things up.

It's frustrating when companies use other companies that probably are not organized in a way that makes them efficient.

I've run into my issues with the big shippers and postal here. My postal carrier has been great and apologizes when she realizes the package she was to deliver ended up in the wrong vehicle. The big shipper took me tracking down the right person to get them to stop delivering my packages to the wrong address down the road.

The delivery companies have driven me back to doing most of my shopping in brick and mortar stores.

The FedEx tracking system is totally unreliable. You can plan your day around the estimated delivery times and the system magically updates with a different time or moves to the next day.

Walmart’s local delivery folks and tracking system are much better and so is Amazon.

USPS is still my preferred shopper, the local mailmen have access to our building and normally bring the package to my apartment door if it doesn’t fit into the mailbox.

I'm glad you've had better experiences with USPS, @Aunt Bea. I've had continual problems with them. I just recently got seriously fed up, and I lodged an official complaint with them about a package—too big to fit into my mailbox or anyone else's—that was recorded by the carrier as "left in the residence's mailbox." The complaint was never adequately addressed.

Today I am seeking yet another refund from Amazon because a package that was supposed to be here last week still has not arrived.

I've mentioned on a different thread that USPS is my only delivery option for Amazon because of my location. It's incredibly frustrating, and shopping options in my area are very limited.

Recently our regular Postie has been gone... been about 3 months.. so I presumed he had left. He was very conscientious..and had been our Postie for maybe 10 years. He used to chit chat with my X husband about their common love of luxury cars

He knew everyone... but he did have quite a drive to get to work from where he lives and he'd told me in the past that he would like to not have that...so I presumed he'd gone

In the meantime the Postal service became awful... so many different post people, young girls, young boys..older men shoving the mail through the letterbox all crumpled up..... no repect for my property... walking right across the lawn...delivering my neighbours mail to me.. and my mail not being delivered at all

so... I was absolutely over the moon when i saw a few days ago my old Postie back again...

The mail is being delivered with care...no walking across the lawns....

I haven't had a chance to speak to him to find out where he's been..I did pass him the other day when i was driving and tooted, and he waved, but other than that I've not had a chance to know what went on..,but thank God he's back !

Our postal delivery in this small town is very "iffy" !!!!Seems to go in
streaks from great to horrible....I hated amazon giving USPS the ontract
to deliver some mail.
I don't have a great problem with amazon, they deliver in their own vans... ( except hen I order a same day delivery, then they use couriers) the only issue is despite instruction as to where to leave the parcels they completely ignore it... always !

UPS here are Robbers.. I have nothing more to say about them, but I know a friend's brother who works as a driver for UPS and the drivers routinely steal...

Most of my deliveries come from a company called Evri..... they have a terrible reputation in the UK.. just dreadful... but in their case it all depends on who the driver is.. and I seem to be one of the very few who has a great delivery driver. He follows every instruction.. he delivers with care, and he's always polite and considerate even when delivering in the worst of weathers..

I have the same problem. When "smart post" came along and carriers started switching packages over to the post office for final delivery is when my problems started. They need to figure out a way to get these packages delivered rather than just returning them to the sender. Sometimes the packages are here, and they return them to sender because the post office doesn't deliver to my address. I have a PO box. Why can't they hold the package rather than return to sender? They say that is because it is addressed to my physical address rather than my PO box. It is maddening. I order way less than I used to.
