Using a CPAP for sleep apnea and snoring

I've used a CPAP every night, all night for seven years but I hear so many that have bought an expensive unit and complain that they can't use it because it is so uncomfortable. I don't have a choice. I have severe sleep apnea, that is, I stop breathing and wake up then go back to sleep. then stop breathing, over and over all night. In the morning I'm as tired as if I'd never slept at all. My CPAP gives me a good nights sleep.

The discomfort thing is in the mask. If the first mask is uncomfortable, try different style masks until you find one you like. They are much less expensive than CPAP units. I use an AirFit nasal mask with the hose connection on top of my head. That works for me because I'm a stomach sleeper. It is also designed so that it has minimal face contact. Find your best style mask on Amazon. I have four different styles so you may have to try several before finding the best for you.

I use a BPAP and one thing I do is to take some soft frabric and wrap it arround a strap that is pressing hard into my head and then wraping some yarn around it. It makes the type of face mask that I use a lot more comfortable.

I've had sleep apnea for over 15 years. They put a mask on me at first. I couldn't get used to it, so I ordered the nose bibs with a strap that goes over your head from a CAP shop on the Internet.

They are soft gell-like nose plugs that have air passages through them. They close off all air around your nose. Turn on my CAP machine & lay back in my special sleep recliner & in 15 minutes I'm asleep. Sleep a good 7 to 8 hrs every night.

Course I have to use a chin strap also to keep my mouth closed.
