USPS Informed Delivery

If you have this, have you noticed a change recently?
When I was first advised to get it (because of really bad mail service in this area), the emails and site dashboard would say 'in your mailbox TODAY.' Occasionally the items weren't. These days, though, the email notices and dashboard say 'in your mailbox SOON.' This kinda adds to the stress- especially if I'm waiting for something important.

Rarely is any mail missing for me. Sometimes it might be a day late which isn't a problem if it's junk mail.

I checked the IRS portal and it still says my check will be mailed on Friday... but Informed Delivery shows a picture of something from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and 'Pay to the order of' beside my name. So I'm hoping this is it- and I actually receive it today!!!

I just went to usps.com and did all the things they said; it wouldn't identify me with my mobile phone number so I requested a code be sent to me by mail. I should get it in a day or so I guess. I'll see how this goes.

Yes, I have occasionally used Informed Delivery for some time now, and I have noticed that it is not working so well lately. I seldom look for mail pieces but I do use it to track packages. Most of our bills are sent electronically these days so I'm not concerned about tracking mail pieces generally.

I like it a lot! Have had it several years. Especially since the cluster mail boxes in my apt complex aren’t always easy to get to : bad weather or parking scarcity. The images of letters come in my email early in the am on the day they are out for delivery. Went up today as there were several things I wanted quickly & got them; no rush if it’s just ads & ‘donate now!’ Letters,

This area has the worst mail service I've ever encountered anywhere. Quite a few packages were never delivered at all. Making matters worse, the folks at the Post Office almost never answer their phone, so it's impossible to check up on anything.
Often, I need to chase the carriers down when something is said to be "out for delivery" (regular tracking), and they usually say they don't have it. A few times carriers have found the items at the bottom of their mail bags or in the mail truck, most times they say I'll need to wait til the next day, or that they don't know anything about it.

So, I make a point of being available when important mail is expected- in addition to the complications of having an unlocked mailbox and various neighbors have actually had their mail stolen. It's another reason I'm grateful to have a work-from-home job, because I'm almost always here.

I've been using Informed Delivery for years now. .. For me it's been pretty accurate, but some mail is off a day or two from the scanned copy sent me. ... doesn't really matter much, as it's mostly junk or catalogs I don't want anyway.

I get so little mail of interest or importance thru the USPS, that I know when I can skip going to the cluster boxes at the apt. office for a few days.
I do watch the website for any package deliveries though. That is most helpful.

I signed up for it thinking it was enhanced package tracking.

I do like it when there's a check in transit because I know the check made it that far, in the event I don't receive it. Other than that, if I see a letter I'd rather not receive, it gives me more time to angst about it ;)

Once in a while, I'll get a package, that even though it has a tracking number on it, will slip through the system and be delivered w/o showing info of the delivery.

Same here. Again, has happened with a degree of frequency lately, whereas it never happened in the past.

I wonder if there have been changed on the part of the senders that has caused this. Or perhaps they are overwhelmed by their "Last leg in the journey" business from increased online commerce.

I was speaking with a carrier, he told me that all this increased package delivery business was not profitable for them. I did not ask for details or how he knew it to be a fact.

Same here. Packages often show up in the mailbox while tracking info says they're still in a different state.
