Vaccine Rates Drop Dangerously as Parents Avoid Doctor’s Visits....

Afraid of Covid-19, parents are postponing well-child checkups, including shots, putting millions of children at risk of exposure to preventable deadly diseases.

As parents around the country cancel well-child checkups to avoid coronavirus exposure, public health experts fear they are inadvertently sowing the seeds of another health crisis. Immunizations are dropping at a dangerous rate, putting millions of children at risk for measles, whooping cough and other life-threatening illnesses.
“The last thing we want as the collateral damage of Covid-19 are outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases, which we will almost certainly see if there continues to be a drop in vaccine uptake,” said Dr. Sean T. O’Leary, a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ committee on infectious diseases.

The problem is global. National immunization programs in more than two dozen countries have been suspended, which could also leave more than 100 million children vulnerable, a consortium of international organizations, including UNICEF and the World Health Organization, recently reported.

“Internationally, measles and diphtheria will pop up around the world. Even with limited travel, they can make it into the United States,” Dr. O’Leary, an immunization expert at Children’s Hospital in Denver, said. (Read on for more info)

Ya think it will be mob mentality when that happens with way too much chaos, even with appointments? The docs and nurses will be really stressed out then....

Oh good grief; I am so tired of the fear mongering. If the children are at home and isolated, what on earth is the big deal.
The big deal is unused vaccines can't be used past a certain date & have to be disposed of. That's known as "Cash in the Trash."
That's why flu shots are so heavily advertised. You can imagine what will happen when they announce a Corona Vaccine....

Oh boo-hoo. 😭 Big Pharma might lose a few dollars (that they would have charged millions for.) My heart is bleeding peanut butter.

Think it's a problem now wait until after and many parents try to get caught up in a short period of time that's when some issues could kick up. I'd say prioritize the disease/shot like polio, rubella etc and spread out the shots even though behind.

Alot of those things people had and got over to post on this board over a half century later.

I'm not an across-the-board "anti-vaxxer," but I do believe it's been going waaay too far in recent decades.
I started noticing a diff between my kids (big age gap)- there were very few vaccines recommended when my oldest was little, but by the time the youngest came along it was a long list. With the youngest- at home til Kindergarten- I didn't permit vaccines til the child was 2 years old.

We certainly don't need another outbreak of polio, etc., and I'm also concerned about c.virus. If c.virus vaccine comes out- even though it probably won't be adequately tested first- I will get it, and advise my kids to consider it.
On a side note, with all the vaxxing going on and pressure to do so- a long-time friend's teenage daughter died because of that Gardasil vaccine.

You can bet your last dollar that your friend's doctor convinced her that the vaccine would "prevent cancer in the future." Fear sells....to some.
