Vanilla Ice, Burglary, Lying And Shady House Flippers.

Ex 80s pop star/rapper want to be Vanilla Ice was recently arrested for burglary for taking items from a house in foreclosure in Florida coincidentally near a house he was flipping/filming his show. Ice who is now a house flipper and reality diy tv star says he pulled the stuff off the curb AND he bought the house. Apparently both untrue. A member of Ice's crew said he told them go into the house and get the stuff and apparently the property wasn't sold yet. Ice says it's all a misunderstanding.

I've noticed plenty of these reality tv flippers break into a house supposedly before they own it to check it out. I've also seen one reality tv flipper do renovations on the outside of a house in order to get a loan for the house since those renovations would increase the collateral value. Sometimes it's tough to separate what's scripted or real but do I believe these flippers let alone actual thieves do this to abandoned property-absolutely.

Not only is a foreclosed house owned by a bank or government agency the previous owner still might be contesting the foreclosure in court. I think part of this goes back to a resentment towards banks but banks are frequently the legal owners. Now many neglect the properties they own and they should be cited and pursued accordingly but that does not give the public free reign on foreclosed property.

How are foreclosed properties treated or viewed upon near you. Should Ice get off light or have charges dropped? Keep in mind he apparently lied to police regardless of other factors.

Here in our county the police/.sheriff won`t even respond to calls about property being taken from foreclosed homes. Maybe because most of the time when they did,it was Preservation cleaning out the house. (Preservation is who the banks have clearing out and maintaining the foreclosed homes) I did foreclosure inspections for a few years from 2010-13 and for the most part saw the houses before Preservation came in. Once they did, anything of value was gone-and you could see it for sale in their garage sale that weekend. My boss and her husband had a whole garage full plus a storage unit full. Made a lot of money.

Ice reaches plea deal in burglary case.

He got caught and paid a price. I still think this goes on a lot more often than reported or prosecuted tv flippers included. Vacant houses by their very nature are targets.

The local community needs to keep after the owners especially the banks because they frequently are the most negligent. We had one home where the lawn was only cut 2 times in 4 months after numerous citations where the rest of neighborhood cuts their grass once every two weeks on average.

The banks only pay Preservation $15.00 to mow the lawns on vacant houses. My boss used to drive 5 hours away, which was in her territory,so she had no choice,to mow one lawn. Needless to say,it didn`t get done near as often as it needed to be. The banks definitely need to get real about what it costs to maintain these places...
