VHS tapes and VHS player. Still using?

I have a collection of VHS tapes. I need to dispose of them. But first I resurrected my VHS player and connected it to the TV. You can just run a t.v. Coax cable direct to the t.v. Select input on the remote. Select channel three or four as recommended.And play the tape. You can bypass all the other connections. Then you can view the tapes. If you have some you want to save, you can have them converted to a CD. I'm not sure if you can use a flash drive.

My lovely SO has about 50 old tapes that she wants to keep. She has 2 tape players, neither of which works. I dunno.

We have a collection of VHS tapes that we want to have transferred over to CD's.

As for still having a VHS player, indeed, we do.

I had a combination VHS/DVD player and a few movies.

I gave it to a family with small children to use for their favorite movies, cartoons, etc...

I don't have VHS tapes anymore. When you watch a DVD and see the clarity the VHS tapes are laughable. I don't know how we watched those things.

I have a sizeable collection of old VCR tapes, mostly old TV shows...Red Skelton, The Honeymooners, The Sopranos, etc. On bad weather days, I still view some of them. I bought a big "shoulder mounted" camcorder way back in the early '70's...expensive back then....and began to tape the kids, as they were growing up...then, bought a nice Sony hand held camcorder when the grandkids came. I have a Toshiba VCR/DVD recorder/player, and have converted all the old family tapes to DVD....should give the kids/grandkids a nice family history if they want to view them in the future. I still dig out one of the old tapes every now and then, and am amazed that they are still in good shape...lots better than watching endless TV commercials on a bad weather day.

VHS seems to hold up better than the DVDs

We have several homemade family tapes of which we need converted.....some day

Got rid of the VHS player years ago, and recently came across all of our daughter's dance tapes. We'd always planned to have them converted. They are entire concerts, and there are at least 2 dozen of them .. $$$$

We have a stack of old home movies (remember those huge video cameras??) that need to be transferred to disk. I bought a software program last year to do it but I can't get motivated. I keep hoping my grandson will do it for me. Anyway, yes, we still have a VCR and some tapes stuck in the closet.

I have about 30 VHS tapes that is over 25 years old. Still have a VHS player.

I was happy I resurrected my VHS . I was able to watch the 2012 Masters Golf Tournament. I have a movie for tonight.

As an update to this old thread, I bought my lovely SO a VHS player for Christmas. It is a "refurbished" I ordered thru Walmart on line. Haven't opened the box yet, of course. Last year I got her a cassette player.

I trashed all my VHS tapes many years ago because every movie I had on tape is now on TCM or other stations.

The movies are in full frame screen and that makes a big difference to me.

For people who are not tech saavy there are places that will accept your VHS collection and give you your entire collection on DVD instead of money. Most tech saavy people convert analog to digital themselves and save to file then sell their VHS tapes to collectors.

I don't think I ever bought a VHS tape. I bought some concerts on DVD and watch them occasionally. Other than that, everything comes from Netflix or streaming.

I still have my VCR. It doesn't work, but I'm using it as a stand for my DVD player on the dresser. It raises the DVD player up so it's less awkward to put a DVD in. I gave my video cassettes to the public library.

Excellent video. I watched the whole clip. I am in the same "boat" as the presenter. I have tapes when my kids were 1 or 2 years old. They are now around 40. So, go figure, it's time for me to act. Thanks FastTrax for posting.

Always glad to help. I put all my audio and video media on USB sticks.
