Vinegar Has a Best Before Date

Just learned this when my semi-annual coffee cleaning wasn‘t giving off any odour.

The other parts that I was manually cleaning weren’t improving much either.

Checked the date on the bottle and it had expired a couple of months earlier. I never check the date on vinegar when I’m buying it. I’m sure it was early this year. Lesson learned.

I would have never known, and ironically enough, I have never checked the expire date on vinegar, not ever, so your post serves as a great heads-up.

I never look at the expiry on vinegar but I thought I'd investigate further about best before and use by dates
According to 'The Kitchn' Vinegar is a fermented product to begin with, and the good news is that it has an “almost indefinite” shelf life. According to the Vinegar Institute, “Because of its acid nature, vinegar is self-preserving and does not need refrigeration Jun 29, 2020

For kicks I just pulled out a bottle of the white vinegar I use, it's Allen's brand, and the expiry on it is May 04, 2025, still, this whole thing really got me thinking.

It will be long gone by 2025, as I do an annual cleaning of our electric water kettle and use anywhere between 250 mL - 500 mL when I do.
