Virtual meet up via video? Anybody know how to set it up?

A while back, someone on the forum set up a zoom-like meeting that we could all join in on. I don't remember who it was and don't know how to do it. All I remember is that the originator set up a link to click on that would take us to the call.

Anybody here who's willing to set it up and do that? We could poll members to determine the best day and time for such a call.

I think the problem was time zones. North Americans, Europeans, and Australians are all on different times of the day. To be on, somebody has to get up at 4:30 AM. Finding a happy time for all was hard.

Yes, it was Medusa. She and some other participants are not in this forum anymore. One member is, but I don't name her, since I don't know if she wants it. I had the luck to be there two or three times.

If somebody wants to reestablish this again, no problem. Zoom is not very complicating. You must install Zoom on your PC and then invite other people who have installed Zoom also, by giving them the link.

The time difference between EDT and Central Europe is +6 hours (for Central Europe), and PDT and Central Europe is +9 hours. (To GB one hour less, since they have GMT).

Of course East Asia and Australia are a very different matter. Perhaps it would be better to have two Zoom meetings which suit all members as most as possible.

And there is always another possibility to ask only one special member for video chats, either by Skype or Google Meet. For Google Meet as far as I know the member who is invited doesn't even need a Google account. I have an account and tried it. Google created a link for my planned meeting, that was all.

Many seniors, especially those that have significantly aged, obviously don't really want other strangers to publicly see how old their aging faces really now look. That is why very few members on this board have ever posted images herein showing themselves up close.

For Zoom or any other video interpersonal sessions to have communicative value, one needs to see a person's face in order to pick up on nonverbals. Otherwise it is just emotion in voice. Hardly much more value than just writing text, posting on threads.
