Northbridge, other side of the tracks from Perth.
Still called the entertainment precinct but my walk along the length of James Street unveiled about 30%
of the businesses shuttered and closed.
As with Perth CBD, pedestrian traffic was at a minimum, 11am Wednesday.

one of my old stompin grounds - chinese/vietnamese restaurants - pubs with raised balconies outside the pub where you could drink and inhale the car fumes and have a quick chat to a lovely chick!! ?????????????causative factors B slow or fast decline or is it every state for itself these days??

It has been a slow decline. A decade ago, it was always chockers with people and traffic.
Very little traffic and almost non-existent pedestrians.
Sure, it might still be busy Friday and Saturday nights. I know not.
I am never here at those times.
