Walmart pulling some meats due to e-coli

This happens all the time. WM has always pulled out meat, poultry and vegetables whenever there's news of an outbreak of E-coli and Salmonella. Kroger and affiliate stores does the same thing.

We don't have full Walmart grocery here. Just a few aisles of basics, dairy and junk. The only meat there is ground beef, but thanks, Marie

I rarely buy meat or produce there. Never was too impressed with quality or selection.

I'm starting to wonder if this stuff is happening more often because the plants and the employees are not following proper sanitation guidelines. It's not just Walmart.

When the economy is bad, risks of contaminated food go up - also occurs in restaurants. Reluctance to throw away old/bad food, plus hiring new employees who aren't familiar with proper food handling practices.

It happens all the time in any food service job. I see it daily. Getting anything done to manage it without losing my job is another matter.

Thanks for posting this.

I started to poop my pants because all but one of the recalled packages were "Grass-Fed Organic Beef."

I bought 1# a week or so ago for the first time because it was hitting its expiry date and was $4/pound. It made great burgers (I grill batches then freeze for future meals.) When I saw it marked down again I grilled another batch of burgers and had one for dinner last night (with blue cheese.)

The expiry dates on mine don't match those in the article.

Interesting choice of words. Uncontrolled pooping is part of the food poisoning experience....along with fever & upchucking.

We never buy meat from Walmart. We've heard some horror stories.
Stores get their meat from many different sources. And, of course, they'll buy from the cheapest. You have no way of knowing where the meat you purchase came from or how it was prepared. Avoiding one store won't keep you safe.

It will keep me safe as I am a 90% vegetarian; hubby isn't, of course. But, we buy the meat from HEB. Oh, the only thing I'll eat is seafood.
