Walter Winchell

He was certainly an interesting character. I remember him well.

He truly was a firebrand. His voice was perfect for the Untouchables TV series. Thnx for posting and now it's 48 hours to T time, or is that tea tyme? Speaking of I think I'll imbibe in a massive cup of Long Island Ice Tea.

I was surprised Winchell was Jewish. Of course, I was surprised Kirk Douglas was too.

Tis true. You're from Noo Yawk so U N I know the list is loooooooooooong and distinguished. The countdown begins at midnight. Were you on the short A-List of the chosen one hundred?

He was a real piece of work. We listened to him religiously during the war.

If you wanted to get a picture with him all you had to do was wait for him outside the Stork Club where it is said that's where he honed his gossip antenna skills. 2021 is just around the corner. Tick tock tick tock.

I heard on NY1 that NYPD were only allowing one hunnert people into Times Square and everything else was going to be virtual.
I only ever tried to go to Times Square on NYEve I think it was late '70's and the cops turned us away at 36th St.

I love NY1. It's the only reason I don't switch from cable, I would lose Pat Kiernan and Jamie Stelter, whose husband, Brian Stelter is great on Reliable Sources, his CNN show. Love these folks.

Times Square was fascinating yet educational to wayward street urchins who snuck out at night like some people I might know or I might not know and nobody can prove otherwise. Do you remember WINS was the premier AM radio station in the 50's?

WINS is still premier AM! When I lived in MA and would visit friends in NH, on the ride home at night going south I would pick up WINS and get so happy & excited!

I prefer Sirius radio, but AM & FM can be fun.
