I use street view all the time.rarely a day goes passed when I don't use it... have done for many years !

Currently while I'm looking at the possibility of moving house.. every time I get a notification of a potential ..no matter what the interior of the house looks like I go straight to Street view and have a look at the immediate area..

if there's a big news story I will also look at the area where the crime or event took place..using street view...

@Jules, I've used street view to see something specific I wanted info on. Never used it at random until now. Boom! I'm on a street in Portugal! Your idea is fun, thanks.

I know this thread was made just for entertainment. The biggest problem with street view images is that many aren’t up to date. There are places that have info that’s decades old. Quite often the info doesn’t often match up.

I just used Google earth this morning to visit Crater Lake, Oregon. Got there in about ten seconds and had a nice look around, five minutes later I was back in my family room. Perfect little trip.
