Dozens of beverage products, including some branded Premier Protein, have been recalled due to possible contamination with Cronobacter sakazakii.

(CNN)Food service company Lyons Magnus issued a voluntary recall for 53 beverage products over possible contamination with Cronobacter sakazakii, according to an announcement posted by the company on Friday.

The recall includes certain lots of beverages, liquid coffee, pediatric nutritional supplements, protein shakes, nutritional shakes and thickened liquids.

Products included in the recall include some branded as Oatly, Stumptown, Glucerna, Intelligentsia, Aloha, Kate Farms and Premier Protein. "Preliminary root cause analysis shows that the products did not meet commercial sterility specifications," the recall said.

I had never heard about, Cronobacter sakazakii, before, Radish Rose
and looked it up, seems to be in dried foods, including infant formula
milk powder.

A child under 12 months can be seriously and dangerously affected
by this.

I wonder if it is something Modern, the fact that it is found in powdered
products suggest to me that it might be.

A good find, that adds to our health education, thank you.

Mike.

You're most welcome, Mike.

On that list was one I had tried called "Oatly", a milk replacement. It was not bad, but I'd rather real milk for my coffee.

You sure got my attention RR….i’ve got a full shelf of those Premier Protein shakes chilling in my refrigerator as i speak. Google says I don’t need to worry since BT isn’t part of the lot number BUT it could have gone the other way…..thanks for your post!

I've never understood a "Protein Shake" or a "Protein Powder."
If someone wants protein, what's wrong with eating food that has protein - meat, fish, eggs, dairy, beans, nuts?
Excess protein is hard on the kidneys - which have to excrete it.
