I enjoyed watching Elvis on HBOMAX. Until this movie, I was not aware of the darker of Elvis's and abusive relationship he had with manager, Colonel Tom Parker played by Tom Hanks. To build a longer lasting career Parker carefully managed Presley's entry to the army, oversaw Hollywood film deals and later shaped his comeback in Las Vegas. Parker is a hotly debated figure in the Presley story. He benefitted significantly from Presley's income, taking over 50% commission at times, according to legal investigation. Fans and observers also suspect Presley did not tour internationally due to Parker's being an illegal immigrant from the Netherlands who never became a naturalized U.S. citizen.

Although the title of this movie is Elvis the movie is portrayed through the eyes and memory of Colonel Tom Parker. Parker routinely referred to Presley as "my attraction" illustrating his claim and dominion over Presley.

I never liked Tom Parker. He called himself some sort of Col. but he was just a phony immigrant who went around with his cigar and blew a lot of hot air.

Saw it last night. Enjoyed it very much, more than I expected. The actor who played Elvis is sensational! I look forward to seeing him in other projects.

I love Show Biz!

Amazing! I saw this movie last night too and was going to start a thread about it! (Beat me to it!) Glad to see I wasn't the only one impressed with this movie. But I also thought it was strangely dark. I had no idea all that was going on in his life. I also enjoyed Tom Hanks role as the Col. It's the first time I've ever seen Hanks playing someone I ended up disliking. Unless I've forgotten some movie, he's always a good guy!

Disappointed really with this, he did not look that much like Elvis or sound like him to be truthful, and Tom Hanks overacted his role, just my take, and yes I know we are all different with our opinions!
