It’s been a looooong week!

Close to 300,000 people lost power and there are still around 90,000 people still waiting for their power to be restored. Our Mayor declared a local state of emergency, and Trump approved a federal Emergency Declaration for Tennessee on January 24, 2026, to assist with protective measures.
The Tennessee Department of Health reported at least 13 weather-related deaths across various counties in Tennessee due to the ice and cold weather, as of Jan 28, 2026. Causes included carbon monoxide poisoning, falls, heart attacks.
A lot of Nashville looks like a war zone. Trees have actually exploded due to the cold (sap freezes and expands) and countless trees have fallen due to ice accumulations.
Thia is the first day our temperature is predicted to rise above freezing, but will drop back down to the 20’s and teens again till mid week next week. All but one of my clients still has no power, and the area in which they live (Belle Meade, old-money wealthy area) is predicted to be without power for at least another week. Clients have gone to their Florida homes or are staying in hotels.
All our family members have had their power restored thankfully, with little damage. Our neighbor’s water heater froze, a friend’s home flooded due to pipe a bursting, another had a tree come down on the front of her house.
Damage is widespread and severe and it will take many weeks to recover.
