This is a big job for us. We have so many trees and we live in a rural area so they don't collect them but we aren't allowed to take them down to and empty field either.
We have tried a mulching blade on our ride mower but it makes a mess of the grass.
We took down our shed and fenced it in. So now we have a place to put them. By the spring the pile is half the size.
My son blew the leaves and I got them into the fenced area. It took 2 days and it was unusually hot for this time if the year. I was so happy to get it done.roy and leaves.JPGleaves 2.JPG

I have a similar opportunity! I have maples that burrow us this time of year. I put a tarp in the back fo the truck and fill the truck up with leaves. Then cover the leaves with another tarp and deliver the leaves to an organic farm a few miles from me. I pull out the tarp out of the truck and empty the leaves there where they make mulch from them. It's all free, but I sometimes have to make three trips. Always a lot of work.

HOLY SMOKES!

Now that's a LOT of leaves!!!

Love the picture, Ruth!

Can you say COMPOST! Last place I lived we had one apple tree that filled the yard with leaves. When I moved from there I saw the new owner cut the tree down. I know why.

That looks like our place....if leaves had some commercial value, I'd be a millionaire. I've been blowing leaves every 2 or 3 days for the past couple of weeks, and have some pretty big piles. At some point, in December, I will string out my garden hoses, to keep from staring a forest fire, and have a day of leaf burning....I just watch for a day with little or no breeze. I like the smell of burning leaves.

You could put a gate in and sell tickets to kids to let them jump up & down in that pile.

Maybe not they would probably just sit in the corner with their phones. The joys of yester year not always known now.

I used to have small pickup, would get leaves all raked and put
into back of pickup, cover it, drive out into country, uncover it and drive like hell !!!!! No more leaves!!!! Now I have to pay someone every year to rake and haul them......

I mulched up leaves Monday and thought I was done. This morning there are just as many leaves down again. The big Norway maples on my property are holding on late this year, dropping a few every day. The DPW came around and vacuumed up leaves that were near the public sidewalk and that helped. This year they are only doing that until Nov 20th. They been next door twice. At the slow rate the leaves are falling, they may still be dropping into December.
