We have a major wildfire :(

It is actually getting farther away from us,rather than closer. And they got rain this morning-not much, but any amount helps. We didn`t get rain here at our house but then,it can our in town and we will get nothing-and we are only a mile out. Something about our valley,I guess. Was kind of funny last night-and typical. Son in law was saying that checking in yesterday was a three hour process-all lineman had to fill out four separate emergency forms for notification purposes "in case",and then were told that no one leave the area without formally "checking out". Then CalFire tells them to "get out NOW" and nobody checks out at all. Like he said, their plans always look good on paper but in the real world, they just don`t work....

Looked this up last night for the area affected. I hope it doesn't take out the town of Clearlake and they were hoping to keep it from crossing HWY 20. When I hear of fires I feel so bad for the people, animals and loss of property.

You mean the town of Lakeport. That is where I lived many years ago and Mrs. R lives now. Terrible loss of beauty.

Ooops. I just looked at the calfire map. You do mean Clearlake (the town) on Clear Lake. Wow it looks close.

Yes, I meant Clearlake the town. I had family living in Clearlake Oaks. I've been to Lakeport also. It's a beautiful area and I'm so sad for this fire.

Well,it just jumped Highway 20 a few minutes ago. So heading towards Spring Valley, which is actually Clearlake Oaks. Where in the Oaks did you have family? There are 60,000 acres burned now....

Many people refusing mandatory evacuation orders. Crazy. They had to evacuate a woman last night who had refused the night before. Had to leave her livestock behind. Had she gone the night before, there were people there evacuating all livestock and pets.....By the way,I think someone misposted the 92,000 acres that I posted. It still says 65,000 this morning. 12% contained. And yes, they are still very fearful of it hitting the "Avenues" area of Clearlake. About 30 long blocks of homes, all of which have a propane tank on the property. Won`t be pretty.

Keep your eyes peeled. I fought a fire for two weeks one time in the mountains East of Eureka. I think I have never worked so hard.

You seem so calm and collected Mrs. R. ... my prayers for everyone around there. Hope some HEAVY rain comes soon.
I would be a basket case by now . or at least packed up and ready to leave..

No reason for me to be nervous,Bonnie. Fire is across the lake from me and very little chance it would ever spread over here. Not that a new one couldn`t start....we are actually getting a few raindrops right now-but not likely there will be enough to make a dent in the fire. But less heat and more humidity certainly won`t hurt. We do have our important stuff by the front door and have dropped a change of clothes at our daughter`s,just in case.

My husband and I were watching news coverage of that fire just today Mrs. R and it made me think of you. It really looks bad. I know one fireman has died so far but I think he was with another fire up north, not the one by Lakeport. I feel so sorry for all the firefighters now. We have smoke in the air here. Someone told me there are about 2000 wildfires in California as of today, I hope that's not correct.
