We May Get to Witness the Most Questionable Super Bowl Halftime Show Ever

The NFL is pushing their luck with their plans to go ahead with their plans for the Super Bowl halftime show in 2026.
Bad Bunny, a singer, rapper and songwriter will perform in 2026 at the Super Bowl. Many team owners have told the NFL,
if they plan to go through with hosting this group, their teams will boycott the game.

So far Dallas and Pittsburgh have made known their intent to boycott the show. How?, I haven’t heard or read as of now.
I should add that Bad Bunny is well-known in Puerto Rico, his home, I believe.

I guess they have known to cross-dress for certain songs and many of their songs are sung in Spanish. What their beef is,
I am unsure, but it does sound interesting. I need to know more, if anyone can add to this post, please do so. I must be
missing something that there has been a lot of criticism of the show planned.

How does a city boycott a halftime show?
Sounds like fake news to me... can you cite a credible source?

I have no problem with him doing the halftime show.
And all those protesting because he is "not American" are showing their ignorance.

The NFL is actively courting the Hispanic audience, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are VERY involved with Mexico and Steeler fans in Mexico.
I fail to see why that triggers white males...

I don't keep up with current popular people, but I would think that there are top 40 vocalists and bands that appeal to many people.

I don't mean to speak for @Been There, but I would assume it is the city's team (i.e., the Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers), not the city, that would boycott the Super Bowl in protest of the halftime show.

I have no idea as to the veracity of these claims. I don't keep up with this kind of news (sports, modern performers).

With the NFL determined to take the league internationally, with all the games taken out of the country in recent years, why not send the Super Bowl abroad too?

Isn’t that what they really want?

I was kidding my son last night about his team, the Minnesota Vikings. ….. after playing their last two games in Europe. ….
will they be allowed to come back home …lol

I've never watched the Superbowl Halftime show. So it doesn't matter to me what they put on. I'm only interested in football. The HT Show is for non-sports people.

In fact, I usually have to mute the television during the game to turn off the drivel the announcers spew. It's become common practice for announcers to suggest that past performance predicts everything we're about to see. If that's the case, why even watch the game?

It’s not the city, it’s the team. Sorry to confuse you.

Bad Bunny is extremely popular with Spanish speakers and non-Spanish speakers alike. Having been born in the US, he has full American citizenship (Puerto Rico is a US territory).

Remember when people clutched their pearls over the first rap performance in a Super Bowl? That was the very edgy Queen Latifah in 1998. QL has since become an enduring American star as a rapper, singer, and TV and movie star. Quite mainstream, I might add. And speaking of rappers, Snoop Dogg cohosted the US Summer Olympics coverage and was so popular he's been signed the 2026 Winter Olympics, for Pete's sake!

Numerous rappers/hi-hop artists have performed in the SB since 1998 and the world didn't stop spinning.

My point? People need to calm themselves over Bad Bunny. If an NFL team qualifies to play in the SB and declines to play over its halftime performer, it will be their loss. Another team will eagerly take their place.

After all, nature - and professional sports - abhor a vacuum and will quickly fill it.

p.s. I half-watch Super Bowls, mostly to check out the commercials and the halftime shows, and look forward to seeing Bad Bunny's performance.

I wasn't confused... you were, confusing the city with the NFL team.

Then it is definitely FAKE news. The Steelers foster relationships with Spanish speaking fans. They would not boycott a halftime show.
Besides, only two teams could boycott the show... the teams IN the Super Bowl. And we all know the Cowboys and the Steelers won't be there...

My view: Football...bah, humbug. Super Bowl halftime controversies: like everything nowadays- media that generates controversy generates revenue.

Good point.
Me? It's high up on my do not care list.
