We were at a campground near Springfield Missouri and I had just had my remaining teeth pulled and was being fitted for dentures when we started seeing it on the news.
I had a few more visits scheduled at the dental clinic on Kansas Avenue!
The way the newscasters talked about it made us wonder why they were allowing these sick people to fly to Chicago where the spouse of one of the victims died or into Washington State where it was spreading around group homes.
So many things to think about like maybe we were more safe being in an out of the way area than we would be at home 70 miles from Chicago.
We knew by the news reports that it was deadly and very contagious and that was scary for an old couple away from home and wondering how or when we should try to get home while avoiding contact with this deadly disease.
We knew very little about it except that it had been spread by people who flew to America from China and that they called it Covid 19 because they said it had been around since the end of 2919.
So I went to the first few visits to get my dentures fitted but then the next visit was scheduled for about a year later.
We told them that we would try to make that visit closer to home when the time came around for it.
We headed home and spent most of that year avoiding contact with people.
