IF I had a 25M house and could afford my own private firefighters, I'd let them pump the water out of MY pool to save my home.

Especially the good looking ones...on last year's Firefighter calendar!

I saw where this upset many. I don't get it. People don't seem to have a problem with private security.

To top it off maybe saving that house and putting out a fire or not letting it get out of control might save several other houses.

I don't think I would do that, even if I had the money.
If you were able to defend your house and the others around you couldn't, you would then be stuck living on a moonscape with devastation all around you, not to mention all the noise you would endure for the next several years as the others rebuilt.

I think I would just as soon collect the insurance and go elsewhere. JMO

Not everyone in those areas are wealthy. And you are right about living in the middle of destruction if your house makes it through the fire. But you may not be able to even return to your home for months, even if standing. The area can be deemed toxic until it is cleared of the top debris. This was the case with the Paradise Camp Fire in 2018.

Agree. Sometimes it feels like people are simply jealous of people who are well off.
