Weight loss drugs losing insurance coverage

Insurance companies may soon quit "subsidizing" weight loss drugs. Blue Cross in Michigan will soon quit paying for Wegovy , and other states/companies may soon do the same. The ridiculous costs of these drugs....and the TV commercials the users are subsidizing...may soon force fat people to change their eating habits, instead of taking drugs.

Why should they support a drug thats dangerous to health and well being?
It would be silly to. They are not a healthy thing to take and if itā€™s costing the company money why continue? I canā€™t believe Oprah is sponsoring it!
 
There were a couple of weight loss drugs that turned out to be beneficial to heart problems. It was on the news, not in a commercial. I can't remember the names but I hope they aren't the ones. I am interested and will investigate. It wouldn't hurt if I lost a few pounds as well.
 
I don't know about weight loss drugs, but I think insulin price got capped for Medicare this year, and last year the chart I'll paste below shows some overpriced drugs that Medicare was negotiating for price cuts.
Personally all but one of my prescriptions became free this year, though on the other hand my prescription insurance went up from $8 to $12 per month (I'm still saving money over last year though).
I was frustrated that when I reached the age for Shingles vaccine I had to pay a couple hundred dollars, but now it is covered by Medicare, but I'm happy for the newly old people being able to get it. Overall there is improvement in the prices we are paying.

Is that cost per month? I wonder why those particular drugs? My son's drugs cost around $1000 per month. Right now he has insurance through his job that pays 80%, but that would end if he quit.

For all of us, I wish our medical insurance wasn't connected to our jobs. It puts us in that position of "owing our souls to the company store."

There are lots of drugs that are harmful to people that some people need.

I don't even want to go into this, but what you're seeing in this case is capitalism in US healthcare failing people.

Of course, over-prescribing is a huge problem too.
