The other day I was writing, and I used the word "does'. I looked at that word and I thought, "Hey, wait a minute. There is no such word as "does". I just didn't look right to me. I just sat there and looked at that "weird" looking word. I couldn't convince myself that there was any such word. Finally, after a minute, I went to the dictionary and, of course, there it was.

Does that ever happen to you ?:(

I never had a problem with the word does. Wierd for me is trying to remember the difference between homonyms, homophones, and homographs.

Oh yes, it's happened to me a few times...ridiculous simple words I've known all my life and how to spell.

For example the other day I wrote the word ''And''..and I looked at it, and though there was something wrong with it.. I just had some kind of mind block...''AND'' for goodness sakes lol

Yes. Many, many, times. It suddenly becomes an alien word for some reason.

Strange how that can happen. I wonder what causes it ? The beginnings of Alzheimer's ?

No. Not the beginning of Alzheimers.

It's just a quirk of the mind now and then. Perfectly normal.

For Alzheimers. It's o.k. to forget what day of the week it is. It's o.k. to forget the day of the month.

It's not o.k. to forget what season you are in, what year it is, and what month it is.

It's o.k. to walk into a room and forget what you were looking for.

What is important is cognitive recognition. That's what the focus is on written drivers tests now.

I have been in sessions were people cannot draw a clock and put the numbers in and set the time to 10 after eleven.

Even with a clock on the wall.

Sometimes.

Another thing that happens to me is not being able to remember a password, telephone number, etc... that I normally use on a regular basis without ever having to think about it.

It's sort of like a short in the wiring of my brain. I've wondered if it is like having a little tiny stroke.

Well, I like words like nite & lite. Why have letters in words which can't be pronounced ?

Things change as time goes by. Many words/things have been streamlined. I'll bet you can think of many.
