I did some laundry this morn and now I see water beneath the washer.....don't think it is supposed to be there....so now got to call a handyman, dang it all.........

Had the same thing happen a while back. I opened up the washer and found the water pump in it was leaking. So, I went to the Maytag dealer and ordered the last water pump in existence that would work in that washing machine. Told my wife if it the water pump goes out that it be time to get a new washer. Also, the knob on the washer that selected wash cycles was broken so I ordered so a new one. Wouldn't you just figure it though that little plastic knob cost more that the water pump.

The little plastic knob on my old Sears Kenmore broke and was a LOT of money.
I decided a pair of pliers left on top of the machine worked really well.

Welp, no answer from anyone on Nextdoor, so got an
appliance repair coming friday morning...hope I feel better
by then, my tum=tum seems to be off today, pain and so
forth....ah well..........

Be glad that it's only standing water and you saw it. My water heater gave up the ghost and water was running continuously onto the floor since it's under pressure. Luckily I was doing laundry that day and caught it before it got too bad, otherwise if I was out for hours or overnight, there would have been a flood.
