Always a surprise to find out how many "American" actors are actually Canadian.

Its not just "actors " but musicians, news anchors, and business types. For a time, quite a few of the game show hosts were Canadians, like Bob Barker, and Alex on Jeopardy. Peter Jennings on ABC news was from Toronto, as was Morely Safer on 60 Minutes, and John Roberts on CNN. Neil Young and The Guess Who, Steppen Wolf, and Ian and Silvia, and of course the Canadian Bard, Gordon Lightfoot, who sold ten million albums around the world, as a single artist, who has over 250 songs to his credit, and who has been "Covered " by over 300 artists and bands. He used to sell out Massey Hall in Toronto, twice a year, for a full week of concerts. He did that for 25 years in a row . He died this year, at age 83. JimB.

There's been a surprising number of well known people who either were born here or have spent their lives living here.. but as it's a very small town and surrounding villages.. I don't want to pinpoint it.. I think some of you would be surprised to hear the big names that are connected to this town..

Rod Serling of The Twlight Zone fame, was born in Syracuse, NY, but moved to Binghamton, NY (my hometown) and grew up there. There are others I am sure, but he always come to mind first.

From the Houston area .... between Beyoncé to ZZ Top, there are hundreds of entertainers .. too many to list.
And in media, sports, and space travel there are hundreds more that were born and/or live here.

Good ole eccentric Howard Hughes was born in Houston, and died in route back to Houston.
