We'll Meet Again - by Vera Lynn

I was visiting my elderly mother at the hospital the other day and popped in a Vera Lynn cd into the player. This was the first song that came up and Mom and I started singing it together...magic!

Mom was a real character in her day.

As a teenager not wanting to get out of bed, Mom would put an ice cube down my pyjamas! That sure made me leap up in a hurry! lol!

Another time at the Pharmacy, a man walked beside her in the aisle and he had terrible body odour...so when he wasn't looking Mom placed a stick of deodorant into his shopping cart! lol!

There's more...

When my daughters were born, Mom would place a hot water bottle in their cribs before she laid them down. It was a lovely and caring Nanny trick! The soothing warmth made the girls fall asleep faster.

Left home when I was 17 and never got along with the folks. Glad I got to spend my later years with my mom. Took her lot's of places. She was always active. In April of 2022, at 97 years old, she came here for what turned out to be her last visit. Took her back to her apartment in NM. where my sister lives and watched over her. She fell and broke her shoulder, and went downhill from there, so they moved her to a nursing home. I bought a new blanket for her and sadly, she only got to use it for 3 days and then she passed.♥️

I like hearing stories of grown children taking care of their parents. I would have done anything for my mother because she would have done anything for me when I was a little boy. Back in the early 80’s, my mom said she would like to visit San Francisco, so I took her for a week. My mom had bad knees so we had to take a cab everywhere we went because she wanted to stop and see a lot of things.
