Today I was called and asked/invited to be a part of a friend's virtual wedding. We have known both the bride and groom for probably three - four years, they are probably both in their 30's and are certainly well fit for each other. Due to the spike in Covid related cases, the states restrictions for crowds and the churches restriction for weddings they have elected to have a virtual wedding the first of January. I'm not sure at this point what my role is going to be, but I will do the best I can while preceding blindly ahead. I'm told there are going to be a lot of behind the scenes video as well, including the bride and groom preparing for their big day. Once the wedding is complete we will ride with the bride and groom to the wedding reception. The wedding reception will be virtual as well and we will have an opportunity to toast the bride and groom during the reception. ( I was told I could use Woodford Reserve in place of Champaign if I wish)

Additionally the Groom advised Someone will be calling me After the Christmas Holiday to invite me to a virtual bachelor party prior to the wedding. So this is all very new to me and my mind is racing as to how all this is going to happen, what my role is going to be and what I should bring to the virtual bachelor party and wedding reception!. But I'm sure someone is going to give me proper direction. Wish me luck... I'm going to need it. Have you ever experienced a virtual wedding?

It is such an interesting concept. I did receive a text form the groom giving me a bit more information this morning. The virtual activity starts 1 hour and 45 minutes before the wedding. Our screens/monitors will be divided into 4 sections, one corner will be playing the movie, Father of the bride, (for our entertainment), one corner will be in the brides general area, another corner in the grooms area and the last is for us in the wedding party, if we want to see the others we can as well as communicate to each other. Sound is on which ever corner you pick, while you continue to monitor the other corners. then the wedding and reception. You can stay as long as you wish. The groom was an I.T. major, He has set all this up. I hope it works for them.

Can’t wait to hear how this all pans out...take good notes. I’m sure this isn’t the wedding of their dreams, but it’s new and innovative, and I wish them all kinds of happiness💕

It sounds great, and I really admire the bride and groom for making something wonderful from all of the current adverse circumstances...making lemons into lemonade...and I admire you and all the others who are willing to do your part to make it a fun and joyous occasion, even if you are a bit nervous about how it's going to work.

If more people had such positive attitudes, our world would be a much nicer place.
