Well, who'd-a thunk it? Florida Panthers win the Stanley Cup!

I was cheering for the other guys. Oh well. It was a good game and an exciting series.

I know I’d never go to a game, even if I had the best of seats.

”LET’S GO ….” Fill in the name of the home team. It never ended. My watch would be continually alerting me of extreme noise levels.

I've only been to a few....a couple up in Detroit and one in Tampa. Not really my cup of tea. I can't keep track on what's happening.
I find it interesting when Americans say they can't "keep track of whats happening on the ice ", but they can follow a NASCAR race at Daytona where the cars are moving at 200 mph, just fine ? Or track a baseball being thrown at 99 miles an hour by the pitcher? It comes down to not being familiar with the game of hockey.

Edmonton gave it a valiant effort, coming back from losing the first three games in the series, and outscoring Florida and winning the next three games in a row. Last night's final was outstanding. Both teams played their hearts out, and the final 5 minutes was incredibly tough. Florida won it's first Stanley Cup in team history. Connor McDavid was the series MVP and winner of the Conn Smythe trophy as the most outstanding player in the final series. In my mind, he is the very best hockey player in the world, today. JIMB>

When I was a kid Phoenix had a very successful minor league team. It even got a franchise in the short lived World Hockey Association. I enjoyed going to the games. But since I never played hockey I never learned the nuisances of the game. I know that teams have different styles of play but it's hard for me to recognize that when watching the games on TV.

I did play football, baseball and basketball so it is easier for me to understand the flow of those games. As far as NASCAR goes, I never had interest in that sport or auto racing in general. I know many who are NASCAR fans though !

Now I will tell you some thing that I bet you don't know ? Here in Canada, we have a whole new group of rabid hockey fans. Guess what country they come from. INDIA. And in particular the Indian State of Punjab. CBC TV Sports has a national hockey channel in the PUNJABI language, as well as some Aboriginal languages. In the youth leagues the number of black, Punjabi, and Aboriginal players is rapidly expanding, as are the girl's and women's leagues. The Professional Women's Hockey League has just finished it's first full season, and their attendance figures are very high. JIMB>

@jimintoronto Alex Meruelo wiped his hands clean of any attempt to bring a franchise back to Phoenix yesterday. Bettman had told him that a team could return in five years if Meruelo had things set in place but the state of Arizona pretty much shut down his plans on Friday which is a good thing. Meruelo was one of the worst owners in professional sports.

It seems that new new SLC team is having a bad start. Similar to what the Coyotes went through went they first got here. Even with a new names and new locations, that franchise seems to have been "hexed" ever since it left Winnipeg.
