Wellness doctors and arthritus or regular MD's for arthritus.

Once I was going to a regular specialist for arthritus in my knee and getting steroid shots for my knee. I did this for a couple years. I decided to go to a health and wellness doctor and get different shots. He started out with 19 shots in my knee, felt great. I know they are two different doctors with different aspects of helping patients with their arthritus. But, for now, it is a wellness doctor. He said the steroid shots would tear down the knee and I would need a knee replacement sooner. I knew he wouldn't say anything nice about the way the other doctor was doing it. But, medicare covers both and so far the wellness doctor is working out fine for me. Tomorrow I will be getting a rooster comb shot in my knee, it is supposed to be good for about a year or so. This is the first time I have ever received this kind of shot. I am hoping for the best.

Hi. Interesting post that I've never considered before. What are in the shots from the Wellness doctor? I know I have arthritis, too, and don't want to get damaged through steroids. But I've had the steroids in my upper back, cervical spine and the pain went away for good. It was long ago though. With needing continual shots, though, I'd look for the best, safest medicine, too. I don't know if my insurance would pay for a wellness doctor. I guess I should contact my insurers or look up Wellness Dr.s in their directory. Finding one in my area would be best. I'd like to find out more about the Wellness type doctor. I have liver disease and many regular medicines are not good for me.
