Winter 2018-19 was USA's soggiest in recorded history.....

The winter of 2018-19 was the wettest winter ever recorded in the United States, according to a report federal scientists released Wednesday. (Climate scientists define winter as the months of December, January and February.)

In all, 43 of the "Lower 48" states had above-average levels of rain and snow from December to February, the report said. Tennessee was record wet while Wisconsin had its second-wettest winter.

In all, 19 states from the Great Plains to the East Coast and south to the Gulf of Mexico ranked in the top 10 wettest on record for winter. Not a single state ranked below-average for winter rain and snow....more reading below....

I believe it. Locally, sunny days have been rare, since December. Today, we had another heavy blast of rain move through, with high winds. After it passed, I went out and cleared some sticks and branches the winds had knocked off the trees, and walking around the yard was like walking on a sponge.

I agree. The dogs come in with mud up to their elbows. Of course, if they stop digging in the yard-lol.

Our winter hasn't been significantly wetter or dryer or warmer or colder than previous ones. There have been quite a few of those annoying "snow changing to rain followed by a hard freeze" cycles, but that's just life here in the north.

We had lots more snow and rain with heavy winds than most past winters too....the wind strength with the loud howling was the strongest Ive heard in a long time bringing down branches and debris from other neighbor's yards into ours....the freezing rain was quite a bit too.....

And I know the reason! After coming back from a cruise this summer and finding a sad, sad lawn, I finally convinced Hubby to put in an automatic sprinkler system. Installation was delayed two months due to unusual rains here in Texas, and since it was installed in November we haven't had to turn it on once. Not. Once. We finally decided to turn it to "Run" after a two week dry spell, and it started raining again. LOL! Cause and effect.

Weather is going trough another change. And food crops are suffering. Good time to learn to garden if possible.
