Yup, it can be hard but hopefully the thread provoked private thoughts of the similarities which is just as good if not better than written responses. I don’t think the decision to withdraw was political although it was made by a politician. I believe it was financial.

We spent trillions of dollars on this war, as usual. Our country needs that money as it needed the money spent on Vietnam. The only ones who “win” in these military actions are the arms manufacturers.
 
This thread was about people.

To make it political the entire time before 9/11/2001 & the response after would have to be examined in depth. For sure political would be opinions about what impact the latest decision might be.

Maybe someone that posts here would share their complete collection of the secret files that formed the decisions made over the last 20 years. That would eliminate political input & placing blame on any of the various presidents.

Yes, it was not meant to be political but a comparison of different peoples reactions to the situations of different people.
