What advice would you give to your younger self?

Amazingly you are able to talk to and advise your younger self. What would you tell them?

I don't know that I have any advice for a younger me. I don't know if I would want to change anything.

To buy the duplex home in Sarasota that my uncle was building in partnership with another and take up his offer on managing the rental of it. Would have had a retirement home plus steady income. This is the only true regret I have. And not to get hung up on being married as I chose all the wrong men and still ended up alone. Not complaining, I'm content with my life, but concerned about retirement with only one SS income.

If only you had been able to tell you!:awman:

I'd sit myself down and tell myself to not take family for granted. They won't be with you one day I'd say and then it will be too late.

I'd also have told myself to pursue my art career instead of veering off in another direction. It would save you from doing it years later and then it would be much harder.

And finally I'd say, try to be more patient. I know it's hard but try more then you are doing now. It will be worth it.

Listen more about my family history

I am so lucky....both my parents are still alive; Dad has done an enormous amount of work on his; and I have done a lot on Mum's.
; and I can still ask questions.

I don't think I would change a lot; I have made an enormous number of mistakes, but how else do you learn?

I know we learn from mistakes and but I do prefer to make wise decisions, avoid the consequences of bad decisions and reap the benefits. Problem is when you're very young it's hard to make those.

Follow your dream and don't listen to the pessimists. I started out doing well enrolled in Electrical Engineering but when I got married my husband told me to switch to Accounting because it would be easier and women can't even fix a lamp switch. I was so blinded by the idea of being the best wife ever that I switched but I was never passionate about that career choice. That is the advice that I would give myself; however, I do not live with regrets because the road I chose led me, among other things, to become the mother of a son who is very special to me.

If I hadn't done and experienced all the stuff, which has been part of my 64 years on this planet, I wouldn't be me. I am far from perfect, I am usually stressed, a worrier and hypochondriac, and always have been. However, if I tried to change the way I view the world I would be a different person, and that wouldn't make me comfortable.

You probably were a bit of a victim of your times I would say. And it's true that regrets accomplish little..but regret.
