My microwave….cook my omelettes in it.
My microwave….cook my omelettes in it.
They are really easy to do….instructions easily found.WHOA WAIT HOLD UP MISTER !!! ... you cook omelettes in a microwave ?!?!?!
I've never had much good luck with eggs in a microwave.
You sir are a microwave master and I am in awe !!!
I put my omelette contents in a sandwich size zip lock bag, (2)eggs and all. Try to keep as much air out of the bag as possible ... smush all the contents and seasoning choices around so they're nice and combined and the egg whites and yoke are nice and combined ... then drop the bag into a boiling pot of water on the stove top for exactly 13min. No more no less. Comes out perfect each and every time. The omelette slides right out of the zip lock bag onto the plate. Easy peasy. No muss no fuss.
Can even make up the Omelette In A Bag the night before and have it ready for morning.
Oh, and one easy hint to fill the zip lock bag ... I have quart size drinking glasses.
I put the zip lock bag into a glass and fold the top of the bag over the top of the glass.
Much easier to fill the bag without any mess and makes everything stable to work with.
All that said, and in answer to the OP question ... Microwave. I use it every meal ... except for omelettes![]()
I agree, the fridge. I can hand wash dishes, sweep the floor, and like you, cook outside. It would have to be the fridge. I could build a fire in the backyard to cook if needed but I need the fridge to keep things fresh or frozen.
I make my omelet in a skillet also. In my case, I place 3 strips of precooked bacon in the skillet while I beat two eggs in a bowl and add sliced cheese to the eggs. Then pour the egg mixture on top of the bacon in the skillet. Cover the skillet and cook at medium setting. Time it for 2 minutes, then remove the cover, fold the omelet in half and time it for another minute. Total time: 5 minutes. This is my staple.I could easily live on sandwiches and apples so I'll choose my ten dollar Mr. Coffee as the most important appliance in the kitchen.
Elsewhere it would be vacuum cleaner, washer, dryer, in that order.
Omelet makers! Do not fear the skillet, it's faster and tastier.
Start with an 8 inch non-stick skillet
Melt some butter in it on low heat
Add 2 or three eggs, mix lightly with the fork, maybe a speck of milk if you want
Leave it alone to cook while chopping your ingredients
Put the filling on the omelet
Cook for a few minutes until the edges look done
Fold over and let cook a minute more
Serve.
Total time 6 minutes.
Well pump isn’t considered an appliance but the fridge certainly is.My well pump, tho not sure if you consider that an appliance. To not have running water in the house would be a major bummer. Second would be the fridge.
