What Are You Doing New Year's Eve (tomorrow night)?

Went down the pub this afternoon and left when it started to get busy. The weather was very changeable; rain one minute followed by a brighter sky and even some sun before the rain started again. We were lucky to miss the rain as we took the scenic walk home. It seems blustery outside and probably raining too so I am glad we didn't go to the fireworks tonight. Just looking for something to watch on Netflix and, if still awake at midnight, there's a bottle of Baileys waiting to be opened. That's as exciting as New Year's Eve gets for us these days but, it's kinda nice. :)

I’ll probably try to go to bed before midnight New Year’s Eve, but it’s worse than fireworks here. The crazies shoot off guns into the air, this being ‘Merica and all, and they got their free-dumbs, don’t ’ya know? So I’ll probably see the New Year in by comforting a terrified dog… 😩
Ditto minus the dog.

Since we don’t drink or party, we are treating ourselves to some good food and movies on tv. We will probably be in bed sleeping somewhere between 9 and 10 o’clock.
We enjoy it and that’s all that matters.

I’m really impressed that the government put a restriction on fire works in Newfoundland. Only two nights a year. The reason? Its scares all the animals to the point of possibility fatality. Some run away and are never found. Please be kind to every living thing. Don’t use fireworks.

No partying for us. We will be in bed by 10:35, he will go to sleep or not I will read until I get sleepy and will stuff ear plugs in my ears as there will likely be a lot of noise here from the folks across the street.

It's only 10:15 pm or so here in Central Florida (aka Geezer Nation) and the fireworks have already started. The good news is that the furkid totally ignores them, and I can hear him snoring. Neither one of my previous furkids were bothered by loud noises either.
None of my pets have been bothered when inside by fireworks 🎇 but on the fourth of July one year Suzy got freaked out when she was outside looking up them. I had to carry her inside fast!

Sydney Australia, enters 2024...with the fabulous fireworks...

Happy New Year to all our Australian friends...

hollydolly: Thanks for putting up the fireworks on Sydney Harbour. I didn't watch it, it seems to look the same every year. I decided to watch
a terrific show on our channel SBS - It was on Clive Davis: "The Soundtrack of our Lives." It charts the 50-year career of one of the industry's most prominent music moguls. He launched the careers of Whitney Houston, Janis Joplin, Barry Manilow and a score of many famous people. Hope you had a wonderful New Year's Eve.

@Murrmurr, how exactly do you do an indoor barbecue?
In the party room that was previously a patio with a big brick barbecue and grill. The previous owners built a room around it. The side facing the yard is mostly glass, so it still has an outdoor feel, plus you can just step outside through a glass door.

It's pretty cool. We have a game table and all our games in here, and Michelle set up a little bar and got some music going on a Bluetooth device.

We're having a great time.

Happy New Year, Dev!!

Fabulous, and thanks for the explanation! Happy New Year to you and yours, as well!

Well fireworks scared the heck out of me yesterday. I live in a small town and since I'm here (about 10 years) there never have been fireworks in town. Yesterday I suddenly heard a sound like a shot in front of my living room, didn't see anything, then again and again, this time saw a small light too. At this point I sought my Christmas tree outside the living room door was having a short, it really scared me. I looked out of big living room window and there I saw across the street big "fireworks" jumping to the sky!!!

My dog had a major seizure last 4th of July. So last night I stayed on the couch holding him close with a blanket over him just waiting. I heard fireworks but very very faint. My dog's hearing must be more acute as he was shaking a little (not like a seizure) and he clearly heard them because he kept looking for where it was coming from.

All of a sudden he quickly focused on the ceiling/roof and then I heard something hit my roof. Luckily I have a metal roof and it was a rather quiet sound. At that moment it stopped. The police here do nothing about illegal fireworks...probably because it might hurt tourism. But c'mon people...it could burn a house down or kill a beloved pet.

This 4th of July, I'll be more prepared with meds to calm my dog...or leave.
