What Are You Doing To Keep The Cobwebs Out Of Your Brain?

Just started researching ancient weapons, also figure out things, like moving very large rocks (lever and fulcrum), Playing cards, 3 deck version of Sollitair. The list goes on and on, activities varied, hauling wood in. Cutting splitting and putting it away. Spending time on walks with Zeus,
Best just to say I keep myself busy and get plenty of enjoyment each from each day.
I don't watch tv or spend hours and hours online.

I work on my blog, clean my apartment, research recipes, talk on the phone to my bf, work on my family tree (for hours, sometimes all day), Facebook, Twitter, YouTube (I have a number of channels I follow and have become addicted to them), try to go outside (if it is not raining again!) to walk a bit and do some cooking. My days fly so I must be keeping busy.

For yrs,I've been doing the NYT daily crossword puzzle.I usually finish Mon&Tues.I time myself to see how long it takes me to finish, between 10-35 min depending on the puzzle. They get harder as the week goes by.I recently became a subscriber to the paper{M-F} there are couple different puzzles I ck out online
In our local paper,{except on Sun} there is daily word game I've become addicted to.Each day is a new word, you have to come up with other words The total # of words changes each day can be from 20-40 Today's word is 'ointment'.I have to come up with 31 words,I'm halfway there, results in tomorrow's paper I write down the words I couldn't come up with
I have a couple wordsearch puzzle books, also like to do 'find the difference' books to keep my mind sharp
BTW,I surprised myself by finding 25/31 words in yesterday's word game.Today's word 'ruthless' will be more of a challenge.I have to come up with 42

Nothing for mental stimulation, but to while away time (during longazz downloads) I'm given to doing the solitaire game from my old win7

I do the Vegas one where dollars (Microsoft dollars...like monopoly dollars) are involved

I got crafty enough to increase the odds from doing 1000s of games
Heh, programs are like that, somewhat predicable

Anyway, I amassed over $20,000

Showed to the bank

'Nice thought Mr O', but we don't play that game'

Got complacent with the game
Accidently hit the 'do not save' button

POOF!!...gone...all gone!!

I'm back up to close to $2000 right now
Make that $1567.....they may have changed the program

I’m practicing my music so am doing a lot of transposing . Lately I’m listing all the songs and music I really like to play and sing in hopes of creating my own music. It’s a lot of fun and I’m surprised at all the new things that can be done with music via computers.

What type of music do you play? Do you sight read? How long have you played piano?
Do you compose any of your own music?

Decluttering our house and working on kitchen renovations is keeping my mind sharp as well as frustrating me. Lol
I play in all genres. My multi genre album featuring Latin Jazz, New Age Funk fusions, Contemporary Jazz fusions and an R & B tune are all original compositions. I had posted one of the songs on this forum but forgot which thread now.

I can sight read but not well enough to suit me. I started playing piano when I was about 10, took lessons consistently for about 2 years, then took a long hiatus after my favorite teacher moved out of town. I switched to organ when I got back into playing as an adult.

My album was recorded and produced on my instrument (Yamaha Clavinova) but I subsequently used the Logic program to work on songs for my next release. Didn't care for digital production, though a lot more can be done with the songs. After another long hiatus, the program crashed on me which really upset me but blessedly I had saved some of the songs in iTunes. Still they are not "radio ready" because of various tweaks that are needed. My son is supposed to come tomorrow to increase the volume of one of the songs I want to release using the Audacity program. Not to discourage you though. I have a friend who loves using her digital program (Cuebass) and she has produced some nice stuff. You might enjoy working digitally too. Have fun! 🎧🎼:D

Been a long time since I've done any crossword puzzles...I'll have to take it back up.

I play online Backgammon and Scrabble.
Queen and Sticks...If you're on Facebook, see if you'd like this puzzle game. It's different, informative and addictive. A FB account connection is needed to keep track of your progress. I don't play on FB, I play it on the app on my phone. Scroll all the way down for more information about playing this puzzle game. https://codycross-game.com/

I’ve become quite a fan of e-readers and audiobooks, and confess to enjoying a few games on the tablet, some of which are fiendishly addictive. Good senior forums like this one where you are not constantly asked A/S/L are also a great diversion...
A/S/L??

Do you use family treemaker? Mine is outdated and thinking of buying the new one which will connect to ancestry.com like it used to. I am really stuck on my oldest relative. 😢

Hmmmmmm....Cobwebs....I wondered what was taking up space up there.:D:ROFLMAO:. I do a lot of jigsaw puzzles online, used to do them the old way, also paint by number online as well, travelling on the internet to many parts of the world, outside a great deal, listening to everything the outside offers, especially birds, my bird reference book is never far away, a great deal of sewing, time here on SF, sharing, learning, and just good old conversation. Try to keep all space up there occupied, but apparently peppermint, keeps spiders and webs away.

I still work though currently I'm social distancing, for probably another 2 - 4 weeks depending. I'm an organizer, and that involves so much more than just physically arranging things. I create organizational systems so that the client can continue to keep the organization going once I've put it in place. I use various computer programs to map out the system I'm creating...virtual room arrangements, spreadsheet programs that I custom-code for the client's needs, notes and reminders on my phone to keep track of each client's needs, word processing programs so that I can create a manual of sorts to teach a client.

I am constantly learning technology. I use a lot of it in my work and I also teach it to my clients, whether it's how to operate their new smart phone or having them invest in a laptop and teaching them the ins and outs of that, showing them how to function within the programs that they need the most, etc. But even without that, technology fascinates me so I'm always teaching myself new things, even if it's just new tips and tricks for how to utilize more of my phone apps.

In my off time, I dance. I'm trained in Ballroom dance primarily, though I also dabble in several latin dances that are trending right now. I am continuously training, learning new steps in ballroom, new dances in the latin field, and I also lead as well as follow, which involves some brain gymnastics.

I also paint, and draw, and sketch. And play games on my phone. There are several painting programs on my phone that I food around with too.
