What are you doing today 2023

The Santa Ana Winds are blowing so hard that we couldn't complete our usual one-hour walk this morning. The winds sand-blasted us, tree branches are down, the dogs are excited, the driveway is scattered with wind-blown debris, and the windmill is spinning like crazy. Still pictures just can't do justice to these wind storms, but I don't know how to upload video clips. The Santa Ana Winds, mostly in November, have caused the worst wild fires in Southern California, with hundreds of houses burnt.

'bout the only good thing about Santa Ana winds (at least in the 70's) was it blew the smog out to sea

Went to a holiday bazaar and bought a few things I didn't need - a lion & lamb candle holder, a Dale Earnhardt and ceramic bell ornaments, and a snowman motif cup & saucer.

I sold the Dale Earnhardt figurine. That paid back what I spent on everything and then some. No luck with the bell or teacup. I'm keeping the lion candleholder.

@CinnamonSugar: in the 1970's, it was rare to see the mountains in summer; now it's rare not see them. The smog has drastically been reduced.

I remember the Santa Ana wind mentioned in the film Holiday with Cameron Diaz lol. I understand the sandblasting reference lol.

"It’s time to walk the dog (and yourself) for better fitness" https://www.cnn.com/2023/11/18/health/working-out-with-your-dog-wellness/index.html Well, I am walking every day with my dogs,

Looks like someone wants to play ball!

Tonight I babysat my grandson's Beagle. What a chaos. As if my pack had never seen another dog before. The Beagle was by far the smallest and youngest, but she was also the wildest and most aggressive one. After 1/2 hour, law and order was again restored, and everyone settled down to chewing on leather bones. Regrettably, I can post only five pictures (I didn't get the best shots anyway.)

Been to ASDA where I spent precisely £7.01,then had breakfast in Wetherspoons, into home bargains to get my salted caramel cereal( never seen it anywhere else but I could get it delivered) and now home for some hot chocolate and custard creams :D.
And it’s only 9.50!
did brekkie at the spoons cost you more than Asda ? :D I know it's gone up in price now..

I am starting my day off making 2 batches of cornbread flavored chaffles (keto recipe). I store them in the freezer and use them in place of bread. Then if I am not too tired from kitchen work, I want to make a keto double-decker pizza stuffler. If I make it early I will have it for breakfast. If not...supper. I have been neglecting the stuffler so getting it out this morning.

Later I have some afghans I want to put in my storage locker downstairs. I have 9 up here and don't need them all at the moment. I will need to clean out a couple of the storage containers to use for them but that is progress.

Afternoon all... The temp is 1°C with a real feel of -1°C. Serious hard frost on roofs. Running late a bit but had a tremendous sleeping cycle. Wow!

Did dishes, fed kitty, made and ate funky pre-Christmas lunch. Watching "White House Down" with Channing Tatum. Just made special smoothie: greek-style yoghurt; UHT Milk, splash of Maple Syrup; handful of frozen strawberries and cherries; & 2 bananas. Yummy!

Got more to-do from to-do list after film 🤣🤣🤣

Not long home... it's past 3pm... I went to the dentist and waited 1/2 hour past my time.. that annoys the heck outta me because I always get there early.. so today I was 45 minutes past my appointment time.. and the bill was high as well.. I felt like telling them I'd knock off some for my time... The waiting room was packed as well and there was one young woman whose 2 children were creating mayhem, and she never looked up from her phone
My rear indicator bulb blew a few days ago.. after getting the front o/s replaced last week... so after the dentist I had to go and find somewhere that would fit a new one. I drove through an industrial estate near the dentist.. and pulled in on the off chance to one independent garage.. ''pull it in over there luv '' ,said the guy who as already working on another car..

I did, and he not only changed the bulb but supplied and fitted another one for my hazard lights even tho' that hadn't blown... and then wouldn't take payment.. ''Nope yer alright, that's ok..no need for payment '' he said.. but I insisted he take a 'drink'' and he did.. but how lovely to find some decent nice people who aren't out for every penny they can get.

I just wish the garage was in my town and not so far away

Drove down to Sainsburys as it is / was the only place I can get some things, but not this time. Not only were they missing, but most other prices had risen considerably. Didn't buy much there. Stopped at ASDA to tank up on petrol, but the pumps wouldn't accept my AMEX card (It worked OK in store). No problem, went on to Morrisons where the fuel was cheaper and I also got some good deals on port and sherry. Also the only place I've been able to buy Creme de Cassis.

Going to cook lamb chops with spiced courgette and couscous for dinner.
