I love large social gatherings where I can flit from one person to another and mingle. But I don’t like sitting one on one with people and just chatting. I wonder why that is?
Me too!I am an introvert so I get anxiety when I am at a large social gathering, especially if it is filled with people I do not know. I prefer the one on one conversations with people I do know.
OhI like coffee with the girls too. Pre covid 5-8 of us met every morning at McDonald’s and while I hated getting up so early and actually “function”pre covid....Nothing like an old fashioned coffee clatch with the gals, 4 or 5 of us to discuss the rest of the block. Also comfortable in a group of less than a dozen or one on one. Large groups, not so much.
Marci, I think the key word there was “healthy” which is why, the older we get we should keep pushing ourselves to do it.I used to get together with about 6-8 other old farts and we'd have dinner at McDonald's in the evenings back home. Even that was uncomfortable for me but healthy. I've changed in the past few yrs so I'm not really interested in being around people anymore than I have to. I get enough at work. Sometimes I can't even handle virtual contact. Depends on the day.
Fun at a party I take it?A buddy once referred to me as an extroverted Lunatic
Me too!!!!!I really miss parties.
What are you like socially
Don't know
You'd have to ask those around me
I can do one on one, or groups
I can take or leave any of it
Most times, people seem to migrate my direction
That can get a little tight
If I get trapped with a wordy person, I switch on internal ignore with a fixed smile cemented to my mug
Drinking helps
Thing is, a lot of folks really love talking about themselves.....a......lot
Reminds me of a poster I made in another life;

Same hereDon't know. Right in the middle, I guess.
I prefer to converse with the men as they seem to have a higher level of conversation.
The women tend to complain and gossip. This holds no interest for me.
hahaha! Probably gossiping about ME!!!
To each their own and it's not something I desire to do.Marci, I think the key word there was “healthy” which is why, the older we get we should keep pushing ourselves to do it.
