What could go wrong? Chinese builders construct ten-storey apartment block in 29 HOURS

In a feat you wouldn't think - or hope - was possible, Chinese builders have constructed a ten-storey apartment block in just 29 hours.

While the erection of the building in the central city of Changsha has been hailed by the developers as the 'world's shortest construction period', the new residents of the apartments might be a little wary of the quick build.

The article is a little misleading. Should be

Ten story apartment building assembled in 29 hours.

Given the preassembly not unlike a prefab home, bolting the various parts & pieces together is what took place. The crucial test will be how the structure holds up if an earthquake happens. Otherwise the finished product looks pretty livable.

Like to see how that holds up over time or go through all the seasons once hot, cold, wet dry etc. Also they say it has steel floors which is good and bad. Steel could rust or get extremely hot or cold which might lead to some expansion and contraction issues. Also metal can attract moisture especially in cooler temperatures.

But people live in manufactured or mobile homes for years on end.

Also of note the same people tried/want to build a sky scrapper 200 stories tall in similar fashion.

Also, have seen numerous articles about Chinese steel being inferior quality ... their heat treatment process causes failures in too many cases.

Keep it from our roads, bridges and buildings. Cheap steel proves to be deadly.

It took much longer to develop the project. Erecting it may have taken 29 hours. Prefab construction assembly is all over the world now. No big deal.

One collapsed in Miami the other day and that didn’t go up in 29 hours.Don’t think anything is guaranteed!
