What do you adivse I do about my meal delivery route on Friday

I am next scheduled to drive a home delivered meal route on January 5th. The temps here that day are predicted not to get above -5°F (-20°C) with wind chills at or below -20°F (-30°C). I am not sure I can safely go out in that extreme cold let alone if my car will even start. I know the meal deliveries have been canceled in the past for snow, but I never heard of them being postponed because of extreme cold. I was thinking of calling the office on Tuesday (they are closed on Monday because of the holiday) and ask if they are going to have a delivery that day if it's as cold as predicted. I hate to say I can't do it because it's cold - sounds like a lame excuse.

That's a good idea to call them and ask about it Deb. Frigid temps affect many people's cars, especially the older models and if there's snow or ice on the roads, driving is hazardous. I would think on days like that someone with a reliable vehicle and no limitations would take over and get the meals to the folks who need them.

I am with SeaBreeze. Call and check to see if there are others who can take your route that day. I think they would understand that you do not want your car to conk out in the middle of your deliveries.

I would call as quickly as possible and simply say that you are not available on Friday.

I'm afraid if you mince around for a few days and end up declining at the last minute some folks might not get the meals they depend on.
