What do you do when you don’t feel like doing anything?

It’s a dreary, cloudy day. I’ve got a million productive things I could be doing right now (like painting or reading or cleaning), but I’m just not motivated. It’s rare that I feel like this because I’m a very creative person and I have a lot of craft projects to create. But all I want to do today is hang out in Pinterest or watch YouTube videos.

Nothing wrong with having an "off" day, as long as it isn't like that every day.

That is me every day. Too ill frankly to do much of anything. Which sucks big time but you have to play the hand you're dealt.

I watch a lot of videos. I read - on both Kindle and print copy but I actually prefer Kindle, I just happen to like old books that often aren't even available on Kindle. For instance, I just bought and am waiting to reread (couple of books on my Kindle ahead of it) a book called Jazz Country by Nat Hentoff. Randomly thought of it and how I loved that novel - about 50 years ago when I was a kid and thoughy hmm, it'd be cool to reread that.

Went straight to Amazon, available only in print paperback, promptly bought while the getting is good. Out of print, last print run was in 1973, which was probably when I picked it up in my school library. Can't wait to reread it! Very excited to. Resisting the temptation to put aside the current two-book series I'm halfway through the first on aside to reread it. Got to be careful handling it because is so yellow with age but I'm very grateful someone perserved a copy that intact. OTher than the paper being yellowed and smelling a bit musty, it's in perfect shape.

I do prefer Kindle because I can make the print any size I want aka need and because I live in a small apartment. You don't need shelves and shelves of storage space if you have an e-reader. I'll have to see if Nat Hentoff has anything else on Kindle.

I also write fiction and so does one of my closest friends. He's 26 to my 65 and we exchange, critique and quite enjoy one another's stories. I'm pleased as punch that he liked one of my characters so well that she inspired one of his, especially since I liked the strong woman he built both similiar to and different from my character. He has my full permission to use it and publish it because unlike me, he's been ambitious enough to get a few of his short stories published. He just got engaged to be married to a very lovely woman so he's currently busy making wedding arrangements on top of being a researcher.

So I also write fiction and poetry but mostly watch videos, pester/annoy people on social media. The one paywall I go behind is a comedian who prides himself on being a troll. His tagline is let's go bully the internet. I don't always agree with him but he is funny enough to pay for. He's also however an acquired taste. At first blush, I was who is this creepy weirdo? But slowly found myself laughing at his gags, subbed to his YouTube and about a year into that paid to join the paywall and haven't been sorry I did. Keep me laughing, Jesse! It's the best medicine.

But if I feel like doing nothing - rare, I get bored - I do nothing and just sleep all day. Best part of my daily routine is I get up, read a chapter or two over breakfast and then when the pain meds have kicked in allowing me to, I take a two hour nap before I actually get up, get dressed and start my day. But I swear that nap's the best part of my day.
