What do you get a taste for once or twice a month or longer?🥪

Oh, I could make a list! But I rarely act on the impulse.

What comes to mind right now is a decent mid-grade ice cream, softened enough you have to be careful - you can wolf the creamy stuff down headache-free. Maybe a nice vanilla laced with fudge and caramel stripes.

Liver and onions. I don't think about it for a while and then BAM! I'm dying for liver and onions.
Years ago there was an Uncle Ben's Rice commercial that mentioned the Four Columns Inn in Vermont. Well, one time my wife and I were driving through Vermont and looking for a place to stay and we happened upon the Inn.

For dinner I ordered the liver and its was the only liver I truly enjoyed. It was cooked in a somewhat sweet raisin sauce and was tender as could be and didn't taste like liver because of the way it was prepared. There's nothing to do in Vermont so dinner took a couple hours. Between the multiple courses, they served a lemon sherbet to clean your palette. That's the only dinner out that I remembered the rest of my life. Well, at least up til now in my life.

I have a taste for ice cream all the time. I literally cannot keep it in the house. When my son goes to Shoprite, he brings back either Haagen Daz rum raisin or vanilla for me. When I go to the local supermarket, I mostly get Friendly's mini fudge sundaes or occasionally, the 48 oz of whatever's on sale (except Turkey Hill). If it's Friendly's...my favorite is banana split. What's crazy is that a 14 oz container or two 6 oz containers will last me longer than the 48 oz, which is gone in 24 to 36 hours! 🤪

Lamb chops with garlic and fresh rosemary.

Smoked Salmon Alfredo.

Pulled pork sandwich.

Chocolate cream pie with a pretzel cookie crust.

Mac & Cheese with stewed tomatoes.

Rib eye steak with mushrooms and fries.

Grilled cheese with tomato and bacon.

Hot chocolate with mini marshmallows.

Somebody stop me ....

I love rum raisin ice cream, among others. I favor caramel sea salt, Dulce Leche and good old chocolate and vanilla.

That reminds me, I haven't had liver and onions in maybe 50 some years. I could go for some!
I love liver and onions, but haven't bought it to cook myself in decades. Kelsey and Kim's, the restaurant that has a location a couple of blocks from our Atlantic City timeshare used to serve it. Recently opened another location.... the ocean view restaurant space inside the timeshare (I had wished for this for years) and they no longer sell the liver dinner. :( They used to serve healthy portions too. I was able to eat off those dinners three times. This was 1/3 of my order.

Although our local supermarket sells Haagen Daz vanilla, they never have the rum raisin. They've had the Dulce Leche but I've never had the urge to try that one. My son and granddaughter love flavors like the caramel sea salt. Can you describe the taste of the Dulce Leche?

Sorry I don't know the answer to that. I've never heard that before. Interesting post though ❣️

I was just wondering what you get a taste for every couple of weeks or month or longer.

For me it's an omelette! I put a veggies in it and occasionally sausage and lots of 🧀 cheese 🤤

How about you?
Mostly things we don't have over here:

Italian saugage
Rhubarb pie
Pumpkin pie
Aubergine parmesan
Spritzkuchen
Egg foo young
Extra crispy KFC
Durian

Alas, I haven't had any of them in many, many years except for spritzkuchen whenever I am down there and durian when they are imported during the summr season.

Usually, it’s the foods that I grew up with.

A Friday night fried haddock platter with fries and coleslaw.

A Hofmann’s hot dog with the works.

A hot sausage sandwich with peppers and onions.

Grilled cheese

Pizza

A cheeseburger with the works.

A strawberry milkshake or a root beer float.

Pancakes and sausage with maple syrup.

A diner style hot sandwich with gravy, mashed potatoes and corn.

Peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich.

Codfish gravy or chopped beef gravy with a baked potato.

A bologna sandwich with American cheese.

🍰🥧🍩🍦🍔🍕🌮🌭🍳🧇☕🍟🍻🍪

I never stop thinking about food!!! 🐷🐷🐷

Sadly for me, it's fatty foods. My favorite being the venerable Pork Chop with plenty of fat on it. It makes my mouth water just writing this. However, I am good at resisting. If there's one constant when I find a new meal I just love, it's the inclusion of high levels of fat.

Not very good that, is it. :D
