What do you see ??

Now, for those like myself who aren't farmers and have had no experience with such, what would an average, typical, dry bale of hay weigh?

A common two-string bale of hay measuring 16 in x 19 in x 36 in will weigh between 40 to75 pounds (18 to 34 kg) on average.

A less common three-string bale of hay measuring 15 in x 22 in x 44 in will weigh anywhere from 100-140 pounds (45 to 63 kg).
Goodness me, I can't imagine trying to sling-around either/or.

Depend on the type of hay but too heavy for either of us to pitch in the barn loft.
Lot of difference between brown dry hay and green alfalfa but somewhere in the
neighborhood of forty to sixty-five pounds, I would reckon. But most hay today,
I think, are these large round bales, 1800 pound up.

Okay, Ken says they weigh more, Been a long time since I‘ve been in the field
in the field.

I've always wondered what those super large loaf of bread like bales weighed!

About the only "rectangular" hay bales I see around here are at the home supply stores....Lowe's, Menards, Home Depot, etc. They make good ground cover for someone trying to start some new grass in their yard, etc. There are a lot of cattle farms in our area, and they always have big piles of the heavy round bales for feeding the cattle.

Believe me, they all weighed 140 lbs at the end of a ten hour day

Hoisted waaay too many in my teens
Can't believe I'd go play a game of baseball after that

Now? I doubt I could just play nine innings of ball
and if I did, I'd need that bale to plop on afterward
